Hey all,
It's that time again for another dev note, and I'm going to keep this one short and to the point. Progress on episode 11 isn't going as smooth as I would have liked. While things are progressing, they're progressing a lot slower than I'd like. This month and next month are both tricky months for me, as I need to put a lot more focus on WTHI than I normally would. Cheeky is happy with where we're at, but I'm not so happy. Mostly because I feel like I should be putting out more art than I currently am. Normally my work schedule is I'll work one day on WTHI, then take a day off and work on The Cabin, and then the next day back on WTHI and so on like that. But as we're close to the release of Season 2, this month I'm working Monday-Friday on WTHI and then weekends on The Cabin. I know it's not ideal, but whenever I'm close to a release with The Cabin, Cheeky always gives me the month off from WTHI with full pay, so I really can't (nor will I) complain about chipping in a little extra. Although, truth be told, I don't feel like that extra is really helping all that much. That being said, it doesn't mean that progress on The Cabin has stalled, not by a long shot. Crab has finished the writing for episode 11 and has the first scene for episode 12 done too. I have told him this time, though. Keep it short! We don't want another "scene 6 fiasco! " Speaking of scene 6, I'm still converting it. I'm a little over 50% done, and the render count so far is almost 300... for that scene alone... Episode 10 was 779 renders, and with scene 6 currently being 300 at the 50% mark, it's very likely that scene 6 will be as large as episode 10. But I can't fault Crab for it, as technically speaking, scene 6 is 4 scenes mashed into one, but you can't have one without the other, so it's either all or nothing. Also, just because my focus is on WTHI too, that doesn't mean art has come to a stand still. Lest ye forget, we have an artist now too. And while I've been converting the script, he's been doing the art and he's already deep into scene 6. In fact, as I do the script and get a chunk done, he does the art, and by the time I get to a new chunk converter, he's already ready for it, so things are still moving at a very good pace. And finally, Emi was the winner of this month's 4K poll, and I'll be working on those this weekend. And the final finally (because I can't recall if I said it above and am too lazy to re-read what I wrote), even though my focus is on WTHI from Monday to Friday, I am still doing the script conversions on those days. The only work I do on the cabin on the weekends is art fixes, which really isn't a lot anyway, so I don't want you thinking that the cabin is stalling; it isn't!
