First Gameplay of the New Co-op Adventure from the Makers of Overcooked!

Hello everyone,

Phil and Oli here! For those of you who know us from the craziness of Overcooked!, lovely to be in touch again. We're here to show you the first gameplay of our next game: STAGE FRIGHT.

For those who we’ve not yet had the pleasure, we’re Phil and Oli. 10 years ago we made our first game which we hoped would resonate with fans of couch co-op games and get friends and families, young and old, playing together in a way that had become rarer and rarer.

We obviously hoped it was going to resonate with people, but as we were developing it, sitting side by side on Phil’s couch, little did we know how much of a phenomenon it would become - and how many friendly feuds it would ignite!

Ten years on and Overcooked!’s unique brand of co-op chaos has been played by tens of millions of players, won two BAFTAs and a TGA, and spread to all corners of the globe, including China where, we’re told, it is affectionately known as “The Divorce Kitchen”!

When we set about thinking about our next game, we wanted to continue our nostalgic love affair with Saturday night’s in and fan the flame for an under-served couch co-op community.

We also wanted to protect the one-button accessibility of Overcooked! and resist the temptation to introduce dexterity at the expense of inclusivity.

But we also wanted to take those Overcooked! players out of the confines of the kitchen and off an adventure into a larger more involving saga: Stage Fright.

In contrast to the fraught urgency of time-based levels, in Stage Fright, players can immerse themselves in a long-form mystery which required them to work together to solve escape-room like puzzles, tackle strange and perplexing obstacles together and combine their mental agility to figure out what has happened in this strange town filled with odd characters.

In homage to our favourite coming of age shows (The Goonies, Stranger Things..), and with a respectful nod to games like Luigi’s Mansion, you play together, locally or online in two-player co-op as different combinations of three friends, Drew, Blake and Charlie, who will take you on an engrossing and mind-bending journey.

We’ve now migrated from Phil’s couch to…Phil’s loft space above his house! But, hey, we have desks now, and maybe our lack of back-pain will make for an altogether more cerebral experience!  And we’ve roped in a handful of hugely talented and like-minded devs to help us build Stage Fright.

Today we’re giving you the very first glimpse of “Stage Fright” gameplay - we hope you enjoy it!

“Stage Fright” is scheduled for release in Spring 2027. Why not wishlist now? You already know who you’re going to play with!
