Hi everyone!

We have a date: Chess Folk launches on Steam on October 8, 2026!

We wanted playing against the computer to feel a little more like returning to a chess club—recognising your opponents, remembering a close game, and looking forward to a rematch.

In Chess Folk, you can:

  • Meet hundreds of fictional AI rivals with different strengths and playing styles.

  • Enter Swiss, round-robin and knockout tournaments.

  • Follow your in-game rating and match history.

  • Explore lessons, openings and game analysis.

  • Choose between 2D boards and 3D pieces with animated captures.

Core games and computer tournaments work offline, so you can play at your own pace.

Thank you to everyone who has tried the Android version, shared feedback or wishlisted the Steam release. Your comments have helped us find problems and improve the game along the way.

If you haven’t already, add Chess Folk to your wishlist to receive a notification when it launches.

See you across the board on October 8. Susu will be there too—please keep an eye on your bishop. 🐼
