Dev Blog丨Fashion Set Custom Dye Optimization

Dear Metas,

Since the launch of Once Human, the Fashion system has carried the expectations of Metas for personal expression. Fashion is not just an adornment on the journey of combat; it is also a reflection of every Meta's unique style. On July 9(PT, all dates in this announcement are in PT.), we officially launched the Fashion set custom dye feature, hoping to allow Metas to personally mix their own exclusive color schemes and make every beloved Fashion set one of a kind.

After the feature went live, we received much love and support from Metas, along with a great deal of valuable feedback on the dyeing operation and billing experience. After carefully reviewing and discussing the feedback, the development team found that the current dyeing design still has many shortcomings:

1. To ensure the freedom of Fashion dyeing, we divided each Fashion item into multiple sections, and charged based on whether each is dyed and which color is applied. The more sections there are, the freer the combinations can be, but the more operation steps are involved.

2. A Fashion set is often divided into over a dozen sections, making section-by-section dyeing rather tedious, and the cost to dye the entire set is relatively high. In addition, the sizes of different sections vary considerably. Some sections are very small and not noticeable when worn, yet they cost the same as other sections, which inevitably leaves everyone puzzled: "I spent quite a lot, but the effect isn't obvious."

In response to the above issues, after multiple rounds of planning discussions and adjustments, the development team will make an overall optimization to the dyeing system in the August 24 update. The specifics of this optimization are as follows:

I. Consumption Logic Optimization

The core adjustment in this optimization is a comprehensive overhaul of the consumption logic, changing from "charging after dyeing individual sections" to "charging after dyeing individual components."

After the update, Metas can freely adjust the dyeing of each section within a component, freely mix and match their preferred color schemes, and are no longer constrained by "separate consumptions for each section." You can freely combine multiple colors on a top, and you can also adjust detail sections at any time.

* The color tier classification remains unchanged; charges will be calculated based on the highest-tier color used in the component, and mixing is supported.

2. Overall Price Reduction

Along with the optimization of the charging logic, we have simultaneously lowered the overall pricing for dyeing. After the optimization, the price of a full dye set has dropped by approximately 60% compared to the previous version, making customization more accessible and easier. The specific prices are as follows:

III. More Dyeable Sets to Be Released

Currently, only a limited number of sets support dyeing. In the September update, we will gradually release more dyeable sets across more rarities, allowing more of your favorite Fashion items to be dyed in colors that are uniquely yours. Stay tuned!

IV. Compensation Plan

For Metas who have already dyed your items, we fully understand that you have invested time and resources under the previous rules. To protect everyone's existing investment, we will uniformly refund the price difference after the August 24 update. Your existing dye effects will not change—please rest assured.

Due to the differences between the old and new consumption rules, it is difficult to calculate the exact price difference for each set, so we will uniformly refund 60% of the currency consumed. Refunds will be automatically issued via in-game mail within 3 business days after the August 24 update.

For example: Before the August 24 update, Metas A consumed a total of 7200 Crystgins and 2250 Colorful Badges while dyeing. After the August 24 update, at the 60% refund ratio of consumed currency, Metas A will receive a price difference refund of 4320 Crystgins (7200 × 60%) and 1350 Colorful Badges (2250 × 60%).

* If you have any questions regarding the compensation you receive, please contact in-game Customer Service, and we will verify and handle them for you.

Conclusion

That is all for this Dev Blog. Through these adjustments, we hope to make the dyeing experience more convenient, while ensuring your existing investment worthwhile. Fashion carries the personality and passion of every Meta. We look forward to seeing more unique color combinations bloom across Nalcott with the optimized dyeing system.

Thank you, Metas, for your continued support and feedback! If you have any suggestions or questions about these adjustments, please feel free to reach out to us via the Co-Dev Feedback Platform (Once Human Feedback Platform)  or in-game Customer Service.
