Welcome to Thveit - The Beginning of Our Journey

Hello everyone!

First of all, welcome to everyone who has recently discovered Thveit. Seeing so many people wishlist the game and join our community over the past few hours has been incredibly exciting, and we can't thank you enough for your support.

We thought this would be the perfect opportunity to introduce ourselves and share the vision behind Thveit.

A cozy city builder inspired by Norse folklore

Thveit is a cozy city builder inspired by the landscapes, history, and mythology of the Viking Age.

Your journey begins with a handful of settlers arriving in an untamed land. From there, you'll grow a small homestead into a thriving settlement by gathering resources, expanding your village, managing production, and creating a prosperous home for your people.

In Thveit, Norse folklore isn't just part of the world's history, but it's woven into everyday life. Gods, mythical creatures, ancient legends, and the natural world help shape the stories you'll experience throughout your journey.

Build a thriving Norse settlement

As your village grows, so do the opportunities and challenges.

You'll establish farms, gather food, process natural resources, manage production chains, and develop an economy capable of supporting an ever-growing community.

Each settler plays an important role in helping your settlement flourish, whether they're farming the land, crafting essential goods, gathering resources, or transporting supplies throughout the village.

Exploration and trade - or as we call them in-game, voyages - will become an important part of expanding your settlement beyond its borders.

More than just a settlement

Life in Thveit isn't only about expanding your village, it's also about creating a place that feels alive.

As your community grows, you'll share the world with a variety of animals roaming the landscape, from deer, hares, and bears roaming the wilderness to the loyal companions that call your settlement home, wildlife helps bring the world of Thveit to life.

And yes.. there will be cats.

Whether they're wandering between homes, napping in the sunshine, or quietly supervising your settlers, these furry companions will become a small but charming part of village life. Your settlers will also be carrying cats around!

Combined with Norse folklore, bustling villagers, and a living world full of personality, our goal is to create a settlement you'll genuinely enjoy spending time in.

This announcement is the first of many development updates we'll be sharing here on Steam.

A loaf of bread starts as a field of rye. A mug of mead starts as a row of barley. A warm coat starts as a sheep in a pasture. This time we finally sat down and walked the whole economy from field to table - and it turned into one of our biggest devlogs yet. Today we'd like to share a lo…Community27 Jul 2026Norse Folklore Comes to Life - Devlog #3Hello everyone 👋, Ever since we began designing Thveit , we knew we didn't want Norse mythology to simply be decoration. Many games use Vikings as an aesthetic. You build longhouses, wear fur cloaks, place a few runestones, and that's where the mythology ends. For us, mythology is part of everyday life. The people settling these lands genuinely believe the forests are inhabited, the sea answer…
