PewPew Live v0.9.250 is out!

This big update is meant to bring the PC version of the game up to speed with the mobile version. It includes everything since the last release.

What's new?

Let's start with the important changes

Blitz game mode (multiplayer)

This update includes the release of the Blitz game mode, which allows up to 32 players to play at the same time in a round-based game mode. Each player competes in the round leaderboards to get the highest score and rank the highest in the overall rankings. This game mode is currently experimental, so it does not reward anything, but you get to experience the gameplay right now and give us feedback on what we should change, improve, etc. Rounds take place in specialized but random sandbox configurations, sometimes with special twists.

This is what it looks like: waiting area, live ranking, round examples, round results, blitz results

3p/4p Multiplayer

In this version, we released an experimental implementation of three and four-player multiplayer. To make it more interesting, we've added special entanglement pads that require all of the players to stand in a certain space, for something nice to happen. Additionally, the user experience of multiplayer has been improved with a new format that allows you to wait for more players while also navigating the game. This was necessary to make 3p/4p multiplayer a lot nicer to use.

The game also includes better netcode, so multiplayer should feel smoother and more robust.

Encyclopedia

A screen where you can see the localized descriptions and stats of all the enemies in the game, as well as bonuses and other entities. The encyclopedia can be found in the information screen from the main menu.

Speedruns

PPL2 has had speedruns for a while now, and just recently PPL too has gotten speedruns enabled in official and community-made levels! Speedruns work automatically; there is no extra work necessary to play them, just play the level as usual. Speedruns work such that your goal is to reach the gold requirement in under a certain time. The requirements are shown on the other side of the score requirements in the level view.

Other changes

Apart from the key features, we've added a few other changes as well

  • Text/Icon transition animation (configurable in UI settings)

  • Sign-out/delete account confirmation screens

  • Community Level search (works on an author and level name basis)

  • Ability to reduce the resolution of the game (the setting can be found in graphics settings)

  • Multiplayer room and Blitz counts in the main menu

  • Hexagon reskin

Aside from the important features and the other changes, there have been various UI improvements and fixes as well, ranging from bugs to simple QoL changes.

We hope you can enjoy playing this new version of the game, and give us more feedback!
