Thursday Update #05

Cool stuff coming up shortly!

I have been brainstorming the best way to make fishing "scary". I will probably add a rotoscope later.

For now I have come up with a new monster that is in the works.

"The Hatman" inspired/suggested by discord member "Milkshake Marxist".

He isn't in the game yet, but I want this dude to be a really freaky resident evil style "Stalker" character that exists at all times (After certain events in-game) and lurks around for the player.

He will have little "hats" littered around the town/wilderness that will call him to your location. Similar to the Warden in Minecraft.

Upcoming changes (not in the game yet!!!):

  1. New Spring content (enemies, music, effects).

  2. New Summer content (enemies, music, effects, heat strokes).

  3. New Aquarium desk NPC.

  4. More festivals.

  5. Bandit NPCs + Bandit Enemies + Bandit event.

  6. Making Fishing actually scary with cool rotoscopes and stuff. "Hatman".

There are a couple new things added to the game. Mostly "Quality of life" features.

What's new:

  1. Item Almanac. Access via "Record book" in house or throughout town. Also, purchasable (if your save file is older, you may need to purchase one from the Furniture Shop, or find a table throughout the world).

  2. Quick Save. This is accessible from the "Records book" as well.

  3. Tables now require "Hold to place" as to avoid losing items from accidentally clicking tables.

  4. "Hero's Whip" added. A sort of easter egg, if you supply the town before talking to Mayor Gus, he should give you this whip. He gives it to you in hopes that you can "make the town folk as productive as yourself". You can whip the villagers to make them do a little jump and run quicker.

Bug fixes:

  1. Fixed Crash while chased by bees.

  2. Fixed crash with Wolf room (May need more testing, I need a crash report to resolve clearly).

  3. Dog should no longer get lost in caves

  4. Dog trap should be clickable using controller as well.

  5. Mushrooms should now finally stack. The issue was that Inventory was "re-rolling" the unidentified status effects on every load game, which would mean the same mushroom could have different status effects... Totally should have caught that earlier!

  6. Some achievements seemed unachievable. I hope that's better now?

  7. Adjusted some item description "padding" to more clearly state item purpose.

  8. The "popup" text above some characters was cut off by screen if the character was too close to top of screen.

  9. Watering/planting farm plots behind/under scarecrows is easier.

  10. Mayor Gus was requiring negative crops if already supplied. Now he gives a cool whip.

  11. Some shader effect issues behind the Mansion at night resolved.

  12. Resolved issues with Aquarium access during Beet Festival.

  13. Some terrain was unbreakable behind Mansion.

  14. Occasionally Dwight's shop wouldn't work at beet festival. I believe this is resolved. May need further testing.

  15. Vled, Vitalis added to social tab.

  16. Crows shouldn't be affected by Spike traps anymore.

  17. Adjusted some Frosted Gingerbread sprites.

  18. Visual oddities with holding Lanterns in off-hand and running at angles.

  19. Room save issues due to entering Caves/mines/dungeons.

  20. Deposit box/Supply bin would unexpectedly "clear" due to some saving issues.

  21. Quests shouldn't update indefinitely.

Happy to get a lot of stuff done. Some of these issues were more pressing so I added all of them to the normal branch. In the future, I will try to throw new changes in the "unstable" branch.

I'm excited to get Summer + Spring in soon and flesh out the new monster ideas and Bandits! I think this is going to be an awesome "version 0.7 update".

I hope that can be added middle/end of August.

Thank you all for playing and testing!
