Hi folks, two important steps are made:
1.) Steam approved the Demo of Diception. I am planning to release it within the next week, to have some time before the NEXT fest where Diception was also accepted
2.) We had a fun local multiplayer session at my place with 4+ players (i modified the photo digitally for privacy reasons). Several mods were tested and the focus was to find out how the game feels with multiple experienced players.
This test was the second of that kind. First time we did it with friends who do not know Dicewars/Kdice at all. Now we had the chance to focus on experienced players and how they like it.
Result: It was a huge success. Friends loved it and we had some intense sessions. I was able to finetune some stuff live - thanks to ai coding :-). Like
Improved the visibility of the gamepad cursors for the active player
Simplified menu controls: One master gamepad which controls the menus, the others are free to move and click buttons but can not mess up the settings
Faster attacks: One thing i love in Diception is that you can attack multiple territores super fast because after a successfull attack, the gamepad highlight moves on to this won territory. So the player can attack the next one just with one additional dpad press. This works amazingly well and gives fast gameplay. However, it was a bit confusing as i kept the highlight active even when the user went back with the dpad through his already won territories. Worked well for me, but not for my friends so i deactivated the second one.
