FAQ

We've put together this FAQ section to help you resolve common technical issues.

  • Troubleshooting Crashes, Freezes, and Performance Issues

Q1: What should I do if the game crashes on launch, shows a black screen, or frequently crashes during gameplay?

Update your graphics driver: UE5 has certain requirements for graphics driver versions. Please make sure to update your driver to the latest version via the NVIDIA/AMD official website.

Verify game file integrity: Right-click SlashZero Demo in your Steam Library -> Properties -> Installed Files -> click "Verify integrity of game files."

Update your system: Make sure your Windows system is updated to the latest version to ensure full DirectX 12 support.

Q2: The game feels a bit laggy or has frame drops when I first start playing?

The game compiles shaders before you enter gameplay, so please be patient. If you experience persistent severe lag in the same locations/scenes, try lowering the graphics quality in "Settings - Graphics."

  • Bug Report Collection

Q3: I've encountered a serious bug (e.g., game freeze, crash, unable to progress). How do I report it?

Please contact us through the following methods, and include screenshots/recordings of the issue along with your PC specs whenever possible:

  • Handling In-Game Anomalies

Q4: My character got stuck inside map geometry (walls, underground) and can't get out. What should I do?

As a 3D side-scrolling action game, our current collision edges may not be perfect yet. If you happen to get stuck in a map dead zone:

Try pressing ESC, return to the main menu, and reload your save. Rest assured, this will not reset your progress.

Before returning to the main menu, we recommend taking a screenshot (ideally showing the surrounding environment) and sending it to us. This would help our development team identify and fix the map issue.

Q5: I've connected a controller, but the buttons aren't responding in-game?

Both PS and Xbox controllers are supported in this test. If buttons are unresponsive, try adjusting the controller settings in Steam:

Right-click the game in your Steam Library -> Properties -> Controller.

Try changing "Override for SlashZero" to "Enable Steam Input" or "Disable Steam Input," then restart the game to check if it's working properly.

Q6: I want to clear my progress and start fresh. How do I do that?

There are multiple save slots in-game. If you want to fully reset your progress, simply delete your existing save in the save management menu, then select another save slot or create a new one to start playing again.

Lastly, feel free to follow our official social media accounts for more of the latest updates.
