Hello everyone!The August Update is now live!This update significantly expands Hold Your King with a brand-new Difficulty System, intelligent Auto-Balance, Speedrun improvements, dynamic progress tracking, leaderboard updates, expanded customization, and numerous quality-of-life improvements.Many of these features were inspired directly by community feedback, and they also lay the groundwork for the major content update coming later this year.

Brand-New Difficulty System

For the first time, you can choose how you want to experience Hold Your King. Three official difficulty modes are now available:

  • Chill Mode

  • Standard Mode

  • Ironman Mode

  • Each difficulty offers a distinct gameplay experience.

  • Leaderboards are now separated by difficulty.

New Chill Mode with Intelligent Auto-Balance

We have introduced a completely new assistance system designed to help players who are struggling without taking the challenge away from everyone else.

  • Added the new Chill Mode.

  • You can freely switch between Chill Mode and Standard Mode from the in-game ESC menu.

  • Chill Mode now includes a fully automatic gameplay-balancing system.

  • Auto-Balance can be enabled or disabled at any time.

Speedrun Improvements

Speedrunning is now smoother from the moment a run begins.

  • Added a dedicated Speedrun option.

  • Speedrun attempts now always begin at the first checkpoint.

  • Tutorials are automatically disabled during Speedrun attempts.

  • Video Tips are automatically disabled during Speedrun attempts.

  • You can start running immediately, without interruptions.

Leaderboard Improvements

  • Leaderboards are now separated into Chill, Standard, and Ironman categories.

  • Improved score validation.

  • Improved leaderboard security and run categorization.

Dynamic Progress System

  • Completely redesigned the in-game progress indicator.

  • Progress now updates dynamically based on the king's position along the route.

  • Progress can now move naturally both forward and backward during gameplay.

Expanded Character Customization

  • Added many new character customization combinations.

  • Expanded the available cosmetic variety.

  • Characters in the main menu now correctly wear the outfit saved in the last world you played.

Preparing for the October Map Update

This update also includes several backend and UI improvements that prepare the game for the upcoming map update.

  • Added new map infrastructure.

  • Improved the World Creation panel.

  • Improved the Game Start panel.

  • Prepared backend systems for future content updates.

Quality-of-Life Improvements & Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issues with the audio sliders in the ESC menu.

  • Fixed the four-player leaderboard display in the main menu.

  • Improved localization across multiple supported languages.

  • Fixed various UI issues.

  • Improved overall stability and performance.
