Hello Luditect Developers and Designers!

We are back with v1.5, a major update built around two things: a brand new module for tabletop designers, and a sweeping round of stability fixes across the editor. Node graphs are faster, projects are leaner, and several long-standing friction points in daily workflows have been sanded down.

Here is what's new in Luditect v1.5:

New Features

  • Board Game Module: A brand new section built for tabletop and card game designers, opened straight from the Dashboard. It ships with two tabs: Cards, a drag-and-drop designer for laying out real-world sized cards with text, images, and shapes and exporting them as print-ready PNGs, and Dice, a quick roller supporting up to five dice at once with custom labels and a running history.

  • Card-to-Database Linking: Cards you design in the new Board Game module can now be pushed straight into your project's Database, keeping your prototypes and your data in sync.

  • Document Grouping: Related documents can now be organized into collapsible groups inside the Document Center.

  • Named Pages & Multi-Tab Editing: Individual pages can be named for easier reference, and multiple documents can now be kept open side by side across tabs.

  • Flexible Page Reordering: Drag pages into a new order, or insert one before or after an existing page straight from the right-click menu.

  • Built-In Spell Check: The Document Center now flags misspellings as you type, with support for a custom dictionary.

  • Adjustable Page Margins: Choose a print-safe 0.5in margin, a narrow 0.25in margin, or set your own custom value.

  • Resizable Scenario Nodes: Scenario Overview nodes now grow automatically to fit their description, or can be resized by hand.

  • Task Checklists & Templates: Tasks can now hold their own checklist of sub-steps with progress tracking, and any task can be saved as a reusable template for repeatable work.

  • Project Settings: A new home for your project's cover image, name, description, and file location, plus control over whether external files are imported or only referenced, a live view of disk usage, and a one-click cache clear.

  • Safe Project Deletion: Projects can now be removed from your list or deleted from disk entirely, with a recoverable safety net either way.

Fixes & Improvements

  • Persistent Image Links: Images placed inside documents no longer vanish from the app or from exported files over time — they're now safely bundled with your project.

  • Leaner Project Files: Fixed a handful of runaway processes that were causing project folders to balloon to 10–20GB with minimal content.

  • Sustained Performance: Resolved a memory buildup that caused the editor to gradually slow down and become unresponsive during long sessions.

  • Flexible Node Connections: Gameflow Architect connections are no longer locked to a single direction, so handles can now link freely regardless of orientation.

  • Smarter Node Placement: New nodes now spawn next to your active selection or the center of your current view, instead of getting lost off-screen in large flows.

  • Reliable Zoom Shortcuts: Zoom and fit-to-view shortcuts now trigger consistently, no matter which Ctrl key or number row you use.

  • No More Duplicate Connections: The same two connection points can no longer be linked twice over.

  • Smoother Text Editing in Skill Tree: You can now freely click to reposition your cursor and drag-select text without accidentally dragging the node itself.

  • Balanced Auto Layout: The Skill Tree's auto-layout now measures each node's actual text width, so nodes no longer overlap.

  • Fixed Database Center Buttons: "Add New Property" now correctly appends a new field instead of creating another section.

  • Uninterrupted Story Editing: Typing in the Scenario and Story Tool no longer triggers keyboard shortcuts like node creation mid-sentence.

  • Visible Add Node Popup: The Add Node menu now always appears within view, even in split-screen layouts.

We are continuously working to make Luditect the best home for systemic and narrative design alike. Grab the update, jump back into your projects, and let us know what you think!

Happy designing!
