This update makes Organized Chaos feel more alive, smoother, and stronger across regular play, CPU matches, controller play, and Steam online sessions. A lot of the work is polish and stability, but the end result should feel like a cleaner, more complete version of the game.
New And Improved
- Added board-specific music loops, giving Sunlit Meadow, Fortune Falls, Sandcastle Bay, and Bramble Citadel their own stronger atmosphere.
- Added a bigger online play upgrade with better Steam sync, cleaner host/client handoffs, and more reliable state sharing.
- Added stronger online mini-game session support, including official host timing, session IDs, seeded sessions, checkpoints, and safer input tracking.
- Added clearer Steam multiplayer status details so online sessions can show sync, packet, host, and delivery information more clearly.
- Added a new 3D lobby feedback/community button that links players straight to the Organized Chaos Discord.
- Added a clearer quit-game button and confirmation flow in the 3D lobby.
- Upgraded Toll Spaces with a full-screen toll presentation, new toll owl art, new toll background art, and clearer claim/pay/owned states.
- Expanded toll strategy into the Rules guide and map scanner so players can understand route ownership better.
- Improved the opening roll presentation with stronger board-specific staging, clearer dice readiness, better roll progress, and cleaner turn-order previews.
- Improved Butterfly Pick tie-break flow with stronger controller support and clearer turn-order handling.
- Improved controller routing across menus, Rules, Map, turn-order rolling, tie-breaks, lobby setup, and board prompts.
- Improved pause menu flow with clearer restart and return-to-lobby confirmation behavior.
- Improved the Ability Space and booster flow with cleaner art, better presentation, and easier decision-making.
- Improved the HUD, player cards, item slots, notices, and prompt spacing for a cleaner board view.
- Improved shop, Weasel, mystery, ferry, Bramble, bank, panda nap, and challenge decision flow for CPU players.
- Improved CPU route choices so bots make stronger movement decisions around rewards, risk, tolls, hazards, and shortcuts.
- Improved CPU extra-roll handling so CPU turns continue more naturally after bonus roll situations.
- Improved Bramble CPU challenges so CPU players can resolve them automatically with proper results.
- Improved Steam online command handling so remote players can send more board actions through the host safely.
- Improved Steam lobby/member handling so host/client roles and peer lists refresh more reliably.
- Improved online command protection so players can only control the Steam seat they own.
- Improved stale prompt protection so old votes, old modal choices, and outdated board commands do not interfere with the current turn.
- Improved packet safety for Steam P2P messages so oversized reliable packets are caught and reported cleanly.
- Improved command rejection feedback so clients can understand when the host blocks an invalid or outdated action.
- Improved minigame voting and mini-game start flow for online sessions.
- Improved several mini-game stages for online/session compatibility, including Clover Quick Draw, Acorn Avalanche, and Shell Shop Shuffle.
- Added more regression coverage for board actions, board decisions, Steam transport lifecycle, multiplayer snapshots, message routing, authorization, online mini-game sessions, controller routing, CPU decisions, turn order, and smoke testing.
Cool Stability Notes
- CPU turns should feel smoother and less likely to pause awkwardly around decisions.
- Steam online play should feel more reliable when joining, syncing, voting, and sending player actions.
- Board prompts should be more resistant to duplicate clicks, stale decisions, and old network messages.
- Controller play should feel cleaner across more screens instead of only the main board.
- Toll Spaces now feel like a real board feature instead of a simple popup.
Still Being Polished
Toll Spaces and Ability Spaces have both been upgraded in this update, but they are not fully perfected yet. They should feel much clearer and more exciting now, but I’m still polishing their balance, presentation, and flow based on playtesting.
The next big update will focus on fully implementing controller play across the whole game. Controller support has already improved a lot in menus, turn order, rules, map, and board prompts, but the goal for the next major update is to make the entire game feel complete and natural with a controller from start to finish.
