ItaDesk is a piece of software that excites me greatly, and now, it's finally ready to meet everyone!
The idea for this software came about because I wanted the desktop to display the time, but the dynamic wallpapers I liked often lacked a time display. Later, while developing games, I often wanted to jot down ideas immediately, but opening a software application felt too heavy and awkward. Also, finding wallpapers of favorite characters from new anime each season wasn't always easy, and making them with an editor was a bit troublesome.
So, why not just make a desktop widget!
Driven by this thought, I created the first version of ItaDesk in 2025, and during the development process, I discovered even more possibilities.
On phones and tablets, we are already accustomed to widgets – they display information intuitively. On PCs, however, there has always been a lack of a mature and user-friendly ecosystem. So in the later stages, my focus shifted entirely toward the direction of general-purpose desktop components.
What excites me most is that now everyone can use free AI assistants like ChatGPT or Deepseek. I'm also used to creating small batch tools with them to boost efficiency. So, could we leverage this to let everyone create their own components? Hence, I developed the custom component / sideloading component feature, which is based on WebView2. Unfortunately, this means it currently only works on Windows 11, but because of that, it can fully utilize generative AI's powerful support for HTML files and the relatively secure and controllable environment provided by sandbox processes.

Today, the test version is officially released. Since the software is developed by an individual without a dedicated testing environment, it is foreseeable that there will be many issues – please bear with us.
No matter what problems you encounter, whether functional or experiential, or if you have any suggestions or ideas, all are very welcome. I hope we can work together to make ItaDesk – this software and its ecosystem – mature and easy to use, adding color to everyone's lives.

(As shown in the image, the feedback button is on the right side of the software toolbar. Click it to submit issues through the preset questionnaire.)

Thank you everyone!

Note: For the sake of control, only 100 test slots are open for now. When the issues subside, more slots will be opened. Thank you for your understanding.
