PvP, Save Safety and Dedicated Server Fixes

Today we fixed several issues affecting PvP, respawning, loot, groups, save games, and dedicated servers.

PvP Death and Loot

  • PvP deaths now show the correct cause instead of a generic death at sea message.
  • Defeated players disappear correctly for other participants and no longer remain as standing characters.
  • Backpack and quickbar contents are dropped in a loot container at the place of death.
  • Loot containers display item icons, names, and quantities.
  • Items can be taken individually or with Take All.
  • When the inventory is full, remaining items stay visible inside the container.
  • Items cannot be deposited into death loot containers.

Respawning and Synchronization

  • Respawning players return with full health.
  • Illness, bleeding, wetness, and previous damage states are cleared on respawn.
  • Players become visible and synchronize correctly after respawning.
  • Movement, jumping, and remote player positions are more stable after death and reconnecting.

Building Groups and Inventory

  • Building group invitations now display the Steam name instead of a long Steam ID.
  • The active building group remains visible after death and reconnecting.
  • Invitations and group notifications no longer block mouse input, movement, or combat.
  • Material counts now include only supplies that are within reach.
  • Distant raft storage is no longer counted as an available building source while on an island.
  • Chest controls, drag and drop, quantities, and full-inventory feedback have been improved.
  • Connected foundations on slopes maintain their shared deck height and receive appropriately extended supports.

Dedicated Servers

  • Production servers now use safe, separated starting positions in open water.
  • Coastal test positions are no longer included accidentally in regular server deployments.
  • New players receive the hook directly in their quickbar.
  • An issue preventing floating resources and placed items from being picked up has been fixed.
  • Outdated profile revisions are synchronized with the server and retried safely.
  • The RPC contract between the released client and dedicated server has been stabilized.
  • Reconnects restore rafts, inventories, structures, chests, and building permissions.
  • The last safe island position is restored when it remains valid. Otherwise, a safe fallback position is used.

Save Games

  • The forced game ending and cycle completion screen have been removed.
  • Starting a new game only uses the first available save slot.
  • Existing saves are not overwritten when every slot is occupied.
  • Existing single-player and dedicated server saves remain compatible.
  • This update does not delete player or world data.

Additional Change

  • Regular swimming no longer consumes stamina.
