The Bus DLC – Hamburg City News: Line 17 continues to grow

Some time ago, we shared the first screenshot from the development of the Line 17 extension. Many of you immediately recognized the location shown.

It is indeed the intersection of Bramfelder Chaussee and Berner Chaussee.

From here, Line 17 continues from Bramfeld via Karlshöhe to its terminus in Berne.

The intersection connects not only two roads, but also a piece of Hamburg’s history. Bramfelder Chaussee is one of the historic main roads in northeastern Hamburg. Its route dates back to an old country road. As early as the Middle Ages, it connected Hamburg with the villages of Bramfeld and Farmsen, and continued towards Lübeck.

Berner Chaussee leads towards the former village of Berne. Its name still serves as a reminder of this historic connection today. At this intersection, two former routes connecting the surrounding villages meet.

Today, both roads are among the most important traffic arteries in northeastern Hamburg.

In the current Hamburg City DLC, the northern bus routes terminate at and around Bramfelder Dorfplatz. With the expansion, Line 17 will continue further to the bus turnaround in Karlshöhe.

The area around the intersection is characterized by numerous shops, supermarkets, and local businesses. Even the smallest details have been taken into account during development. These include the corner shop, which now stands empty, as well as the distinctive rows of shops along Bramfelder Chaussee.

As the route continues onto Berner Chaussee, the character of the cityscape noticeably changes. Residential buildings increasingly take center stage, while shops become less common and are scattered along the road. This transition creates a varied route with a distinctive sense of place and makes the area highly recognizable.

The images shown today offer a small glimpse into the development of this area. Alongside in-game scenes, we are also sharing screenshots directly from the Unreal Editor.

They provide an insight into how buildings, vegetation, and countless other assets gradually find their place in the game world, step by step.

Please note that all images shown are still work in progress and do not yet represent the final state of development.

From the intersection, the route continues along Berner Chaussee and then via Petzolddamm to the next stop in Karlshöhe. We will take a closer look at this section in one of our upcoming news posts.

The Line 17 extension will be provided as a free update to all owners of the The Bus DLC – Hamburg City. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to announce a release date.
