We’re fast approaching our first content update for STARSEEKER next week! This is bringing some fun content and good improvements, partly based on player feedback and bug reports. Some content is shifting around compared to what was shown in our first Roadmap, and we’ll have more news to share on that soon. In the meantime, the ESS Starseeker has a new visitor for you to meet.
Some of you may have heard rumors here and there about Felix, wondering who they are and where to find them. This enigmatic merchant comes and goes at their leisure, and this is the first week you’ll be able to find them on the station!
That’s a really good question. Whether they’re a friend or a foe remains to be seen, though they have proven to be helpful to Astroneers. If you missed our first STARSEEKER comic, follow the link to have a read and take a guess at what their intentions might be.
When Felix is on the ESS Starseeker, they run a shop called the Clowder Emporium. They will visit the station every month for one full week, so you have this time to peruse their wares and purchase anything that strikes your fancy with your hard-earned Baubles.
The shop is impossible to miss, just look for the colorful curvy structures that have popped up out of...somewhere.
SPEND THOSE BAUBLES
If you’ve found odd-looking Baubles while on Expedition and wondered what they might be for, the answer lies with Felix. Baubles are currency you can use to purchase items only at the Clowder Emporium. Like every other currency in STARSEEKER, Baubles are earnable-only.
Felix will always have Blueprints available for you to purchase and be able to craft some fun Gadgets of your own. These include:
Boom Box: “Music emanation device for aiding in Astroneer social bonding.”
Party Popper: “Handheld explosive for expressing congratulatory sentiments.”
Trampoline: “Athletic enrichment device composed of highly elastic polymers.”
Fireworks: “Pyrotechnic device intended for celebratory activities.”
In addition to their standard inventory of Blueprints, Felix also brings a rotating stock of items that change every time they visit. Often, this will include rare cosmetics. It’s also an opportunity to find items you might have missed out on when they were first introduced, like cosmetics originally available during Community Challenges.
One cuddly item you’ll find during Felix’s first week at the station is the Hug emote. Just as it sounds, you’ll be able to hold your arms out for a hug, and anyone will be able to interact with you and complete that hug. Best of all, anyone you hug gets to keep the Hug emote!
So, odds are that you won’t need to buy it, but even if you somehow miss out, it will eventually return to the Clowder Emporium.
KNOWN ISSUE
Currently, the Hug emote and other synced two-player emotes aren’t working correctly while out on an Expedition, though they do work fine on the station. The team discussed holding back this emote until the bug was fixed but ultimately decided to let y'all hug it out on the station. We have a fix coming in our first content update next week.
No time like the present! Start seeking those Baubles out on your Expeditions and trade them in for anything that catches your eye in the Clowder Emporium. And remember to Hug your nearest Astroneer!
