Hi everyone, I’m preparing CodeGrid’s first public Playtest and would like to invite some players to try the current version. The main goal is to find out whether the tutorial, early levels, and overall controls are clear enough.

CodeGrid is a programming puzzle game. For this test, I’m especially interested in one question: can players who are completely new to the game understand the rules and continue playing on their own, without guidance from the developer?

This is still an early version in active development. The core direction has been established, but the gameplay, interface, and levels may still change. Save files and progress from the Playtest may also not carry over to later versions or the full release.

How to join

Click “Request Access” on the CodeGrid Steam store page to apply. Access will be granted in batches. I plan to invite around 20–30 players in the first batch, with testing expected to begin on October 9. Please check the launch announcement for the final timing. After requesting access, no additional action is required. Steam will notify you if you are granted access.

What I’d like to know

  • What was the first level where you clearly got stuck? What did you think you were supposed to do at that point?

  • Which rules, icons, or tutorial explanations were confusing?

  • Were you able to find the Run button easily and understand what happened after your program executed?

  • Did you encounter any launch, crash, save, or display issues?

You can share your experience in Playtest Feedback, report issues in Bug Reports, or use the in-game bug report option. Feedback in any language is welcome, and even a few simple sentences are very helpful.

Thank you for taking part in this early test and helping me make CodeGrid easier to understand and more enjoyable to play!
