1000PRINCES: ChouChou Condo · published
Dear Princess, 1000 Princes: ChouChou Condo is a super-sweet romance otome game for women and part of the 1000 Princes series. Its core features include following the princes’ daily lives, unlocking romance posts between you and the princes, chatting with the princes (AI), receiving comment replies from the princes (AI), and collecting free virtual currency to buy items and gifts that increase your intimacy with different princes. This update completely redesigns the game interface and strengthens its AI features.
I’m YaGu from Eider Game Studio in the Duck Kingdom. We specialize in developing otome games, and I’m responsible for all art design for “1000 Princes.”
When the game first launched, ChouChou Condo looked like an ordinary website: the home page simply stacked image slices to form the outline of a condo building. One week after release, it was improved into an interactive interface shaped like a condo. The image below shows the previous vertical condo interface. To make it mobile-friendly, I deliberately designed it as a vertical layout that could extend in height. The moving walkway in the scene could scroll continuously to show different princes; clicking a prince would display his profile. The idea was inspired by moving walkways in airports and convention centers.
The 4x4 grid displayed the princes’ latest posts, using condo rooms as the visual concept. Clicking 1F/2F on the left switched floors—in other words, switched pages. No matter which floor you selected, the room in row 3, column 3 was always the player’s room, because you are always surrounded and protected by handsome, gentle princes.
The terrace featured a group photo of the princes and a greeting. This area was designed to change for different holidays. For example, during Lunar New Year, the princes would appear on the terrace holding red lanterns and Spring Festival couplets. On your birthday, they would gather here with a cake to celebrate you.
The rooms along the bottom are all shared facilities.
I repeatedly redesigned and revised this vertical condo with the help of AI. But I felt the overly tall building was visually oppressive, and the heavy stacked structure weakened its beauty, making it feel dense and cumbersome. The elevators and other elements on the left were only decorative and served no real purpose, which diluted the interface’s functionality. The modern elevators also disrupted the elegance of the classical architecture. In addition, the rooms lacked correct perspective, so the result did not look like a real building—it looked more like images rigidly inserted into a building-shaped frame.
So this week I completely rebuilt the game interface, changing the tall vertical building into a horizontal modern French-style condo. The horizontal design is more elegant and attractive, and visually feels much more comfortable. The princes who used to keep moving along the travelator now gather on the bridge at the bottom. This version is designed entirely in a dollhouse style: through the building’s cutaway view, players can see the princes’ activities in different rooms, and each room represents a different section of the game.
The AI chat and comment features have also been strengthened. Previously, when the princes replied to princess players, there were some very poor “memory loss” or low-quality responses—for example, they might fail to say your name. After the fixes and improvements, the princes’ AI chat and reply abilities are stronger, allowing them to communicate with princess players more naturally, so the princes can devote all their attention to you and spoil only you!
Other optimizations and improvements to the game will be introduced by other members of Eider Game Studio in future development logs.
Dear Princess, you meet different princes across different timelines. We are especially happy that, in one of those timelines, you come to our game development studio as a newly hired employee—and you are the only woman in the studio. Even if you are starting with no experience, game-development skills can be learned step by step. We truly need your perspective as a woman to help us optimize and improve the game and create a more romantic, beautiful experience for female players.
At the same time, ChouChou Condo—the place where you live—somehow ends up filled with your husbands from different timelines. That gives us plenty of creative material, so we turn your romances into game scripts and make them into otome games.
