Hello my future operators,
Today will be the first of, I hope, many weekly logs to track the progress that we have made in this game.
This week, we have changed these parts of the game:
Fixed a bug in the NULL panel that hid around 2/3 of your generators
Removed in-game EULA, previously added as a joke
Changed all panel layouts
Rebuilt the city map to be more natural
Fixed shop item display bug on Steam Deck
Rewrote tutorial
But of course, this all had to start from somewhere, and that somewhere is, in my humble opinion, much more interesting
This whole game started with the idea of making games that I would want to play more then something that is available on the market, that was more fine-tuned to my personal preferences.
The very first version of this game was very small, very simple, a single HTML document, started in February of 2026. This first version was made not in a tool like Claude Code or Codex that can edit your files directly, but in a chat. At this point, I was only testing out the capabilities of the tools I had available to myself to use.
Soon, however, that test ended up growing a lot bigger, until I decided that maybe this should be my first game that I make (and eventually, put onto Steam). Today, that same game started as a single HTML document that was maybe a kilobyte large is now a whole folder of different files and assets, totalling now about 500 megabytes.
Through these seven months now of work, I have switched tools, tried new tools, and raged at AI
companies that are just so greedy.
On that, you might ask (or maybe I'm just too optimistic in saying that you even might ask), why even use AI in the first place? After all, this highly controversial piece of technology doesn't exactly stand in favor in many people's hearts, including myself (kinda).
To start, you need to know one thing about me - I can't code to save my life. Believe me, I've tried, and I consider it a personal accomplishment if I could even get my script to output a simple "Hello World". But there is another reason. This game started as a test of what this new technology could do, and how people who didn't know how to do any of this could still do it, and create something they are proud of.
For this reason, my opinions on AI and using it to create this game are mixed - on one hand, I could never achieve this level of game-creation (is that even a word?) without assistance. On the other hand, this technology has stolen the work of millions of people around the world without their permission, and to that, I express my deepest condolences (if that even it the right way to use it and if that means anything).
However, I hope that if you ever play my game (which I think you will have, since I don't know how else you'll even see this announcement that took me forever to find the portal to create), that you remember the human element behind it, that I poured my heart and soul (IK, cheesy) into this game. AI only helped me bridge the gap between my lack of skill and my ideas.
See you next week,
Your (hopefully) favorite squishy fox
