Development Update — Preparing for Takeoff

Bootleggers!

Development on Mulerun is moving forward, and several major pieces of the game are currently taking shape.

Right now, our attention is focused on three connected areas: flight, NPCs, and the in-game tracking system.

✈️ Making Flight Feel Right

The plane is more than transportation — it’s one of the most important parts of the Mulerun experience.

We’re currently designing and testing how flying should feel, from basic controls and camera behavior to takeoffs, landings, and the consequences of carrying too much cargo.

Our goal is to make flying easy to understand, satisfying to master, and just unpredictable enough to create those perfect co-op moments:

“We can definitely take one more crate.”

Famous last words.

👥 Bringing the Island’s NPCs to Life

The island also needs people — customers, locals, suspicious characters, and the occasional person you probably shouldn’t trust.

We’re designing the NPC cast and beginning the process of integrating them into the game world. They won’t simply stand around looking decorative: they’re being built to support deliveries, orders, trading, reactions, and the strange situations your crew creates.

Every good smuggling operation needs customers.

And witnesses.

📍 Building the Tracking System

The in-game tracking system is also being integrated.

This system will connect important information across the game, helping players follow active jobs, locate objectives, and keep track of what is happening around the island.

The challenge is making it useful without turning the game into an automatic checklist. You’ll know where the opportunity is — getting there safely is still your problem.

These systems are all designed to work together:

An NPC gives you a job.
The tracker points you in the right direction.
Your crew loads the plane.
The extra cargo changes the takeoff.
And suddenly that short runway looks even shorter.

That’s the Mulerun experience we’re building.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but the game is becoming more connected, more playable, and much closer to the chaotic co-op adventure we’ve been aiming for.

We’ll have more to show soon — including another look at the game in action.

Thank you for following the development, sharing the game, and keeping Mulerun on your wishlist.

The engines are warming up.

— The ABK team

The full trailer is getting very close, and I’m excited to show you much more of the island, the bootlegging business, th…Community26 Aug 2026Engines Ready. Still Hot. Trailer IncomingBootleggers! Something has been brewing behind the scenes — and it’s almost ready to come out of the barrel. Very soon, we’ll be releasing a brand-new Mulerun trailer , offering a fresh look at the tropical trouble we’ve been building: chaotic co-op teamwork, moonshine production, risky cargo flights, and an island where every delivery can turn into a getaway. We don’t want to spoil the best mo…Community22 Aug 2026Small Development UpdateSmall Development Update Hi everyone! The game is being developed at full speed, and progress is being made every day. I want to emphasize that I am the sole developer behind the project. Programming, design, missions, balancing, testing, bug fixing, and preparing the Steam release are all handled by me. Development can therefore take longer than it would for a full studio, but the game is acti…
