Saves and Steam achievements are not reset.
This patch improves controllers and Steam Input through the whole game,
and bundles recent bug fixes. Your progress stays on your machine and in
Steam Cloud.
WHAT THIS UPDATE IS ABOUT
Better pad / Deck support from title screen to Ashfall menus, plus a
stack of crash and quality fixes from recent hotfixes — still labeled
2.0.24 to match the Steam live version.
CONTROLLER / STEAM DECK
- Steam Input menus now support Magic, Gear, Help, and Settings shortcuts
- Controller remapping works with Steam Input on Deck (Controls no longer
fights Steam when you rebind)
- Back / Esc feel consistent on Steam pads across menus
- Stick menus are steadier (less skipping when you hold the stick)
- Controller Setup no longer fights Steam Input on Deck
CONTROLS / KEYBOARD
- Rebind any key or controller button in Settings → Controls
- Fixed a freeze when opening Controls to set up binds
- Rebinding a key takes it off the old action (no double-bind leftover)
- Esc always backs out of "press any key", even with no controller
- Controls tells you when no controller is found
- Esc leaves one menu at a time again
STORY / ASHFALL / SAVE
- Act VIII Ashfall is in this build (regions, ash heroes, Emberhearth,
familiars, Paragon)
- Act VIII victory screen title is correct
- Ashfall hazards no longer permanently slow you
- Earlier-act story milestones catch up when you clear ahead
- Finishing Act VIII returns you to Emberhold (not a wiped run)
- Steam Cloud no longer re-uploads an older legacy save over a newer
local run
OTHER FIXES
- Esc works on victory / game over / credits where it should
- Broker stock copy is honest (opens the normal shop)
- Desktop engine security patches (Electron 44)
- Bosses chase and fight correctly again
- Emberhearth / Paragon no longer stack bonus stats forever
- Forge no longer eats ash mats on a failed craft
WHAT THIS UPDATE DOES NOT DO
- It does not wipe saves
- It does not reset Steam achievements
- It does not bump you to a new version number on Steam (stays 2.0.24)
HOW TO GET IT
Steam will download the update when this build goes live.
Leave Steam running, or restart the client. You do not need to reinstall.
On Steam Deck: after the download, open Steam → Realms of Wands →
Controller settings and use (or refresh) the Recommended layout so menu
shortcuts match the new Steam Input actions.
In-game after it lands: title or pause → Update Notes (version 2.0.24).
