WE CAN'T LAUNCH YET

The Planet Miner · published 1 Oct 2026, 23:16 UTC

All newsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

Today was supposed to be launch day, and we're really sorry to keep you waiting. Our drill hit a rock we didn't see coming: the release build is still going through Steam's review, so we can't press the big launch button just yet. This one's on us. We picked the release date before we properly learned how Steam's review process works, and we didn't leave enough time for it. This is our first released game, so please be understanding :<

Earliest possible release date: As soon as your game build review is completed.

Sorry again for the delay!

Launch does not mean we are done

We'll keep improving the game after release. We, quietpicnic Good Games, are a tiny collective of game developers without any funding, so our testing can't be perfect! We know it's almost impossible for us to make a bug-free game, nail the balance or foresee every missing QoL feature on our first try ^_^. If something feels wrong, too fast or just off, please tell us in the discussions. Your feedback matters to us.While you wait, here's a peek at what's coming :>

Your own Space Station

It has 10 buildings, and its upgrades never reset; they carry over to every planet.

  • Smelter - what is ore for, if not for turning into ingots? 😛

  • Crucible - find out which two ingots make each alloy. 85 alloys, and every save hides its own secret recipes!

  • Research Lab - try your luck at unlocking new (random :3) technology trees.

  • Fabricator - 18 (!!) technology trees on one big screen, plus drones and trinkets to forge.

  • Grinder - grinds stone into gravel, sand and cement.

  • Quarry - pick any ore you need and the Quarry will dig it out of stone.

  • Enrichment Chamber - try your luck at turning ore into rarer ore.

  • Shrine - ban the boons you don't like, upgrade and pre-pick your favourites.

  • Ranch - collect cave creatures and crack their DNA code to unlock genome upgrades.

  • Vending Machine - open capsules with a gacha reveal, confetti included!

Sounds like too much? I have good news! You don't need to focus on the upgrades to have fun mining planets. Each one gives a small bonus, but once you have enough of them, they start to matter :>

The full game has 5 (!!) planets!

Planet 01 - The first dig

The first planet, which you may remember from the demo 😄

Planet 02 - Ice and storms

Snow-lit glacier shelves with lightning in the fog, down to the crystal Prism Cradle.

Planet 03 - Dunes and lagoons

Painted ochre dunes, a coral lagoon, geode hollows, geysers and lava tubes, down to the starlit Spiral Reach.

Planet 04 - The dark glass world

A black glass planet broken by an old impact: stepped pits, boulder halls and a lake of melt. Down here, the only light comes from the ore... and your robot's cute little face!

Planet 05 - The builders' world (finale)

Not rock but machine: hull plates, cable decks, coolant tanks, boilers, drive rings and clockwork, down to a keel of white enamel.

Thank you so much for sticking with us. The planets will be ready to mine very soon! - Your squirrel Kyenia (part of the quietpicnic Good Games team)
