Why We Added Controller Support

Throughout version 0.3, we’ve been refining the game experience and making it more immersive. For the final 0.3 update, we wanted to take that immersion a step further, so we decided to add controller support.

Playing with a controller has two main benefits:

  • Richer feedback. Controller vibration adds a tactile dimension to the game.

  • More comfortable for longer sessions. You don’t have to sit at your desk the whole time. You can play in a more relaxed position—or, if your setup allows it, put the game on a TV and play from the sofa.

Using a Controller

Basic Controls

  • D-pad

    • Up: Buy

    • Down: Sell

    • Left: Close position

    • Right: TP/SL

  • A: Next candle

  • B: Breakout order

  • X: Limit order

  • Y: Journal

  • LS (left stick): Move the cursor (simulates mouse movement).

  • RS (right stick): Move the camera (simulates dragging the chart with a mouse).

  • LB/RB (shoulder buttons): Zoom the vertical axis. Hold LT (left trigger) to use LB/RB to zoom the horizontal axis instead.

  • RT (right trigger): Hold to speed up. The speed depends on how far you press the trigger; pressing it fully activates fast-forward.

  • LT (left trigger): Hold to open the timeframe and drawing selection interface.

  • Menu: Open the settings menu.

  • View: Enter View Mode.

LT (Left Trigger)

Hold LT to open the timeframe and drawing selection interface. Use LS (left stick) to choose a timeframe and RS (right stick) to choose a drawing, then release the stick to apply your selection. Press RT to quickly apply the selected drawing. You can also press LT and RT together to quickly reuse your previous drawing.

View Mode

Press View to enter View Mode. The controls change in this mode:

  • B: Exit View Mode.

  • Y: Switch between the trading panel and the history panel.

  • LT: Open the eraser.

  • D-pad: Switch between charts when multiple charts are open.

  • LB/RB: Browse orders or positions on the chart. Press X to close the selected item, use LS to adjust its slider, or hold A and move LS up or down to move it.

  • LS: Browse drawing elements on the chart. Press X to delete the selected element, or hold A and use LS to move it.

  • RS: Browse and adjust sliders in the trading panel. In the history panel, browse past trades and press A to open the selected trade’s journal.

When You Need Precise Movement

When placing orders, drawing, moving drawings or orders, or using the eraser, you can adjust movement with these buttons:

  • LB: Fine adjustment; reduces movement speed.

  • RB: Coarse adjustment; increases movement speed.

  • LT: Snap to candlestick endpoints.

Controller Vibration

We’ve added vibration feedback for the following events: candle closes, entries and position increases, take-profits, stop-losses, order placement, order triggers, drawing, and slider adjustments.

Other Changes for Controller Support

We’ve also made a few changes to make controller input easier:

  • The capital allocation and leverage sliders now use larger increments, making them faster to adjust.

  • The timeline is shown when placing an order, so you can see which candle you’re snapping to.

  • “Save Settings,” “Load Settings,” and “Export Settings” are now grouped under a single “Manage Settings” button.

Give trading with a controller a try, and let us know how it feels.
