Welcome to the Bountiful Bait and Boons update. This is our first update that focuses more on changes to the game rather than fixing bugs, and this is because of two aspects of our game that we felt didn't affect the game as much as we wanted them to.
For the first part of the update, we have the bait. Our original idea for the bait was for it to be a craftable item you would use in tandem with the Bestiary to curate the specific types of fish you wanted to catch. However, even after buffing the amount bait affected the pool several times, bait still appeared to be underperforming, both in personal testing and from feedback. Due to this, we decided to scrap the original idea for bait and instead rework it into an item that saves time during fishing. It achieves this by increasing the progress you start with in the reeling minigame. There are three tiers to the amount you start with, those being small, medium, and large, and these are directly related to the size of the fish you cut the bait from.
For the second part of the update, we got the boons. Overall, we felt that a large majority of the boons from other seafarers you would encounter during your expeditions were underpowered, whether just from not being effective enough or simply being a product of a previous time in development. As a result, nearly every single boon has been buffed or reworked to work much better in the current state of the game. We hope this encourages more sailors to be more sociable while on the open seas, but we won't force you to walk the plank (over to their boat).
Finally, although this update was mainly focused on updates to these two systems, there were still a few bugs that had been discovered and reported we fixed in this updated as well.
Thank you to everyone who has played our game, and we hope you enjoy the changes included in the Bountiful Bait and Boons update!
