Here's a little surprise update after a couple of years of calm for the game.
The big new addition is a new Challenges mode, unlocked after reaching a certain level, when you can test your mastery of the different game mechanics by playing slightly modified versions of the game with different rules or goals.
Like for example in the "No ones" challenge shown above where there will never spawn any one-connection vlobs, which will require you to rethink your strategy a little.
There are also a couple of balancing changes to just make the game more fun:
Added more combo multiplier tiles (Making it easier to get big scores and nice combos)
In Stressful mode excess vlob count is now added to the time limit on level up. (Adding a little more strategy to Stressful mode survival)
As an accessibility option for color blind players there's now also an option to add patterns the color color vlobs to make them easier to tell apart (sorry this took so long!).
This update sadly also removes the online global leaderboard. I realize this might be sad for the couple of people at the top with some truly unbelievable scores (were they really real?) but it wasn't very popular and I couldn't motivate keeping the system up for long term support. With it removed I can ensure the game can live on independently without relying on any external systems.
Finally the game engine has been update for improved performance and support and a couple of little UI bugs have been fixed (mostly affecting the mobile version).
If you're reading this, thanks for sticking with the game for all these years, and I hope you'll enjoy the new challenges!
