Today we have another piece of news for you regarding the status of Rivage – we’re taking the game demo off Steam this Thursday, August 20th.
The improvement works that we have set out to do and explained in our previous post here are going well and the current work-in-progress Rivage build looks a lot more like the experience we envisioned the game to be and that you will enjoy. Therefore, we have made the decision to take the current Rivage demo off Steam – we believe that it no longer represents the experience of playing Rivage.
That said, let us clarify that this doesn’t mean that Rivage has become a different game – when you play the full version, you’ll see a lot of familiar environments, puzzles and story pieces that you have discovered in the demo. What is different though is many improvements we made to the game design itself, and since we’re so close to the release, we have decided to leave them in the final version.
Some of you requested more info on the different areas of improvements, here are some examples:
Reworked a lot of UI and UX systems to improve the player's journey
Added new voice lines
Created new narrative hints
Reworked some of the puzzles
Added new puzzles
Once again, thank you for playing the demo and providing your feedback. Without it, Rivage would not have reached the best version of itself, and we thank each one of you for taking your time and investing effort into playing the game and leaving your comments.
We cannot wait for the release when you will enjoy Rivage at its fullest! Also, we cannot believe this big day is so close, and even though the majority of fixes are done, we’re tying together the remaining bits and pieces for the smoothest experience possible, with excitement growing exponentially.
PS: If you have the demo downloaded on Steam, you will still be able to launch and play it.
