Hey everyone,
The demo just got its biggest update since launch: a completely new look and a pile of new systems. The store page has been updated to match, so what you see there is what you get.
Here's what changed, and then an honest status update on the full game.
A BRAND NEW LOOK
The entire UI has been reskinned from the ground up. New menus, new harbor, new HUD, new everything: a translucent "ocean glass" style that sits on top of the water instead of covering it up. Same game underneath, but it finally looks like the game I wanted it to look like.
Nothing was removed. Every stat, button and screen you had before is still there, it just reads better now.
FEVER MODE
Fill the Fever meter and the ocean loses its mind. Fish flood in, gold multiplies, and your chain keeps climbing as long as you keep landing catches. Break the chain and you lose it.
It's the best ten seconds in the game and it's the reason "one more round" turns into three hours.
THE BIG ONE
Every few rounds the fish scatter and something much bigger charges in from off-screen. It thrashes, it drags your tools off it, and you've got seconds to wear it down before it's gone. Land it and the payout is enormous.
GLIMMER FISH
Occasionally a fish starts glowing. Catch it fast, it's worth ten times what it should be, and it doesn't stick around.
A MUCH BETTER FIRST TEN MINUTES
This was the big one behind the scenes. A lot of players told me the game got great after a while, the problem was the "after a while" part. So the early game has been rebuilt to actually deliver:
- Your first treasure now shows up around round 4 instead of 6
- A guaranteed Rare fish at round 5, a guaranteed Epic at round 10
- Tool upgrades cost a fraction of what they used to: your first upgrade is now reachable around round 5 instead of round 10
- Shop items are affordable from the very first rounds instead of being locked behind hours of grinding
- Tools hit their first capacity upgrade far sooner
If you bounced off the demo early before, this is the update to come back for.
QUALITY OF LIFE
- Press 1-5 during a round to take direct control of ANY tool, not just your first
- New catch timers that match the pixel art instead of fighting it
- A "Reduce Flashing" option in Settings for anyone who wants the spectacle turned down
SO WHERE'S THE FULL GAME?
Straight answer: THE FULL GAME'S CONTENT IS DONE.
All the zones, all the fish, all the cards, the talent trees, the weather, the rival encounters, the treasures, the story: it's built, it's playable, it's finished.
What's left is ART.
I'm working with an incredible artist who is currently reskinning the rest of the game to match the new look you're seeing in this demo update. That work is in progress right now, and it is worth waiting for.
Once the art is finished, I'll be able to capture the trailer, the screenshots and everything else the full game's Steam page needs, and that page will get the same full update the demo page just got.
So: the demo and its store page are current as of today. The full game page is deliberately waiting on the artist, and I'd rather show you the real thing late than something half-dressed early. The full game page is to be updated once all the art is ready.
I'll post again the moment there's something to show.
Thanks for playing, and thanks for the patience — the feedback on the early game in particular genuinely changed how this update was built.
