Starlathe arrives on 1 October, and it will not arrive in English only.
This is not a menu translation. Every item, ship, module, weapon, skill, achievement, mission, officer, faction and sector carries its own name in your language, a few thousand of them. If you play Starlathe in Japanese, you are reading Japanese when you compare two guns in a shop at three in the morning.
The first time you start the game you pick your language before a single asset loads. Every language names itself, in its own script and its own alphabet, so you can find yours without already being able to read the one on screen. Pick it once and you are never asked again.
The pilot name field takes any language and any keyboard. Arabic, Kurdish, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, accented Latin, dead keys and IME input all work, and your name shows correctly everywhere it appears.
Kurdish reads right to left, joins its letters into words, and mixes in English names and numbers that have to land on the correct side of a sentence. Very few games ship it at all. Starlathe does, properly shaped and properly ordered, down to the arrow that tells you which way to read a stat and its value.
Ten is where this starts, not where it stops. We know what is missing. French, Korean, Polish, Turkish, Italian, Traditional Chinese and Ukrainian are all languages this game should eventually speak, and none of them are there today.
If one of those is yours, come and say so on Discord. Which one we do next depends on who asks for it.
