Fractured Realms v0.3.2 - Expeditions
The tide's turning. This patch adds a brand-new Support skill: Expeditions - a life on the water for all that gold you've got nowhere left to spend.
Buy yourself a boat. Sign a crew: Salty Pete swabbing the deck, Old Marlow keeping the books, Mordecai up in the crow's nest with a lucky eye for treasure - ten hands in all, each one worth their salt. Point them at the horizon and send them out, from the gentle Tidewater Shallows to the black water at the World's Edge (and a few places that aren't on any map). They sail while you get on with everything else, and come home heavy with Expedition Points to spend at the Expedition Shop.
It's a gold sink with a soul - somewhere to pour the hoard, not another race for power.
Huge thanks, as always, to everyone in the Discord and the reviews who reported bugs and told us where the game felt off. Here's everything.
⚓ Expeditions - a new Support skill
The loop. Spend gold to send a voyage. Voyages sail on their own - even while you're off woodcutting, fighting or charting - and pay out Expedition Points and XP when they arrive. Points buy permanent, build-defining rewards from the Expedition Shop. It's a place to sink the gold you've been hoarding, not another grind for raw power.
👥 Your crew
- Hire up to 10 crew, in order, each pricier than the last.
- Every hand carries a permanent voyage buff themed to their role: faster voyages, cheaper trips, more Points, more XP, and a chance at Lucky voyages that pay double rewards.
- Buffs stack, so each hire visibly improves your next voyage - not just a gate.
🚢 Your ship
Four upgrade tracks, four tiers each, every track ending in a capstone perk:
- Sails - faster crossings; capstone: a chance at half-time voyages.
- Helm - cheaper voyages; capstone: a chance at a big cost cut.
- Charts - richer Point hauls; capstone: a guaranteed Lucky voyage every 10th trip.
- Hull - the gate track: sturdier hulls open the deeper, wilder routes, and the final hull unlocks a second voyage slot so you can run two routes at once.
🗺️ Routes
- 12 voyage routes, from the gentle Tidewater Shallows out to the World's Edge, each gated by your Expedition level, crew size and ship.
- 3 hidden routes - repeatable, high-value voyages revealed by fully maxing your ship tracks.
🛒 The Expedition Shop
Spend your Expedition Points on:
- Material Caches - bulk bundles of gathering materials, one per tier band, for topping up a whole tier at once.
- Combat Gear - three special armour sets (ranged, melee, magic), sold piece by piece, sitting near the top of the power curve.
- Skilling Gear - permanent proc items that save materials or roll bonus outputs across your gathering and artisan skills.
⚙️ Auto-Sail and quality of life
- Auto-Sail - right-click a route and set how many times to run it (+1 / +5 / +10 / +50 / +100, or Max), with the total gold cost shown up front. Cancel any run from the In Progress list.
- Voyages run in the background across every screen - start one and carry on with your main skill.
- Live voyage progress shows on the Expeditions sidebar entry, just like your active skill.
- Fully supported in Swift mode - voyages sail faster to match the quicker pace.
- Hand-painted art throughout the new skill to match the rest of the game.
🐛 Fixes and polish
- Various minor bug fixes and stability improvements.
- UI and performance polish across several screens.
- Localisation updates.
Notes
Expeditions is brand-new and still being balanced - expect rough edges and tuning changes in upcoming updates. Like Agility, voyages sail while the game is open rather than offline, so keep the window running to keep your crew at sea.
Early Access: we test each update as much as we can and do our best to avoid bugs - but on a game this size, some always slip through. If you hit one, please report it in the Discord; it genuinely helps us track it down. Thanks for playing.
