1.0 is coming TOMORROW!!

Less than 24 hours until the 1.0 release - we're so excited!! There's been such a huge amount of effort put into the release, we can't wait for you to get your hands on it :)

If you want to celebrate the launch with us and dive into 1.0 the moment it drops, be sure to check out the global launch times map below that our team made!

The practical stuff

  • 1.0 launches on Windows - and, for the first time, on macOS and Linux.

  • Price stays at $31.99, with a 35% launch discount for the first two weeks, until September 24. If you were planning to buy today: wait until tomorrow.

  • Already own The Crust? You already own 1.0 - it arrives as a regular Steam update.

  • Kickstarter backers: keys for every released DLC have already gone out through Kickstarter - check your messages if you haven't seen them. The first major expansion will be yours too when it arrives.

One thing to know before tomorrow: Early Access saves won't carry over to 1.0

1.0 is not save-compatible with Early Access builds. The logistics system was restructured from the ground up - that's where the up-to-50% performance gain on large bases comes from. On top of that, a road system has been added and the excavation system has been overhauled. An Early Access base simply doesn't map onto the new structure, so there's no way to convert old saves. It's the price of the changes that made bigger bases possible.

We know that stings if you're deep into a base right now, so here's what it means in practice:

  • Your save files aren't deleted - they just won't load in 1.0.

  • Want to finish your current base? The last Early Access build stays available as a Steam beta branch. Right-click The Crust in your library → Properties → Betas → select "Previous". Your old saves keep working there.

  • The full explanation - and everything that's new in 1.0 - is in tomorrow's release post.

Want a preview of what's changing? The 1.0 overview is here:

Seriously, thank you!

From everyone at Veom Studio - thank you for carrying us through Early Access. The Kickstarter campaign, the EA launch, four major updates, the surveys, the bug reports at 3 AM, the Discord debates - and, hopefully, some good hours on the Moon in between. A lot of what's in 1.0 exists because you asked for it.

We're dedicated to building the best possible experience for you, and we still have a lot of plans for The Crust's future - more on that soon.

For now, though - we're super proud of the 1.0 release.

The single most common request during Early Access was "let me build bigger, more permanent factories." 1.0 answers it directly: Planning Mode, roads and a rebuilt logistics system that runs large bases up to ~50% faster make massive factories practical — and a lot more fun to build. Put that on top of outposts, gas extraction, rocket contracts for other planets and everything else that arrived across the four EA updates, and this is a very different game from the one that entered Early Access.

And for the first time, it runs on a Mac. 1.0 ships with a full macOS port on day one.

The build is locked and through final testing. All that's left on our side is clicking "Set live".

If something breaks on day one - tell us on Discord. We'll be there.

See you tomorrow.

- Veom Studio
