♠ Producer Letter

Ahead of the Release of the CRYMELIGHT Full Demo

Hello, everyone.

I’m Takumi Isobe, the producer of CRYMELIGHT.

Today, I would like to share some of the feedback we received regarding the currently available “Battle Demo” and talk a little about the full demo we will be releasing soon.

First of all, thank you very much for playing the Battle Demo.

The entire development team is deeply grateful that so many people played it and took the time to share their feedback and impressions with us.

However, the Battle Demo was based on a special build originally created for approximately 15-minute event demos. As a result, there were areas where the in-game explanations and available features were not sufficient, and we feel that the demo did not fully convey everything the game has to offer or its overall level of polish.

We sincerely apologize for causing concern among our players.

We have taken all of your feedback seriously and made numerous improvements. With those changes in place, we are now ready to release the full demo of CRYMELIGHT.

This demo is significantly different from the previous Battle Demo.

Rather than presenting only a standalone section of the combat, it allows you to follow the story from the beginning of the main game and play through the actual gameplay loop.

You will be able to experience Alice’s arrival in Wonderland, her encounters with her companions, and her journey toward the first boss.

Playtime will vary depending on how you approach the game, but we expect the demo to take approximately 1.5 to 3 hours or more to complete.

This means you will be able to experience many elements based on the full game—including the story content we have not been able to show in much detail until now, upgrades at the Tea Party Hall, the Repentance System, and progression through Crime Cards.

The development team has also taken the feedback we received from the Battle Demo seriously and improved as many areas as possible.

Some changes could not be completed in time for this demo and will instead be included in the full game. However, we would like to take this opportunity to explain the main improvements and the current status of our work.

◆ Tutorials and Explanations

We received many comments regarding the Battle Demo, including that the controls were difficult to understand, the effects of items and cards were unclear, and game-specific terms were not adequately explained.

We feel that there were areas we did not explain clearly enough within the game. We sincerely apologize for any confusion or frustration this may have caused.

Because the new demo begins at the start of the main game, players will be introduced to the controls and systems in sequence as the story progresses.

Based on the feedback we received from the Battle Demo, we have also added and adjusted several tutorials. During the adventure segments, we have added a button that lets players check the meanings of game-specific terms on the spot.

Through these changes, we have worked to make the game even easier to understand than originally planned so that first-time players can learn how to play CRYMELIGHT more smoothly.

◆ Visibility

We also received many comments regarding visibility, including that the screen was difficult to read and that it was sometimes hard to distinguish characters, enemies, and incoming attacks.

The development team has carefully reviewed these areas once again. We are continuing to make adjustments focused on overlapping characters, effects, and objects, as well as transparency effects and areas prone to becoming overly bright.

We have also completely redesigned the enemy attack indicators to make incoming attacks easier to see.

While expressing the beautiful and fantastical world of Wonderland is extremely important to CRYMELIGHT, it is equally important for an action game to clearly communicate what is happening on screen.

We will continue making adjustments until the final stages of development so that the game can achieve both visual beauty and ease of play.

◆ Localization

We also received a great deal of feedback from players outside Japan regarding the game’s localization.

Due to scheduling constraints, we were unable to deliver localization of a quality that satisfied the development team in the Battle Demo.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused. The development team takes this issue very seriously.

To ensure the same thing does not occur in the full game, we are spending as much time as the schedule allows reviewing and refining the localization.

In consideration of this, the full demo will initially be released only in the languages we are currently able to provide at a quality we are satisfied with.

The supported languages will be Japanese, English, and Simplified Chinese.

We sincerely apologize to everyone waiting for the demo in other languages.

We are continuing preparations to deliver every supported language at a higher level of quality in the full game, so we kindly ask for your patience a little longer.

◆ Difficulty

For the Battle Demo, we received comments from some players who found it too difficult and from others who found it too easy.

Both the full demo and the full game include multiple difficulty settings.

We have prepared a mode for players who primarily wish to enjoy the story, as well as a mode for those seeking the challenge of a roguelite.

The story will remain the same regardless of the selected difficulty.

Difficulty can also be changed at any time from the Tea Party Hall.

Please enjoy Alice and her companions’ Death Game at the difficulty that best suits you.

◆ Other Improvements

We have also made a wide range of adjustments and improvements between the Battle Demo and the full demo.
Below are just a few examples.

・Changes to dodge mechanics
(Revisions to the number-of-uses system and adjustments to cooldown, distance, and more)

・Combat adjustments
(Adjustments to combo speed and hit stop; faster Crime Ride activation and adjustments to stagger behavior; changes to the pull gauge mechanics; adjustments to HP, damage, enemy spawn timing, and attack warning mechanics; and more)

・Crime Cards
(A complete overhaul of card effects and designs to make the characteristics of each build more apparent; the ability to cancel only one card at nodes where multiple cards can be obtained; clearer level-up feedback when completing a poker hand; and more)

※The final item will be implemented in the full game.

・Additional options
(Mouse and keyboard support, screen shake adjustment settings, the ability to review tutorials, toggles for individual UI elements, and more)

・UI adjustments
(Including a complete redesign of HP value displays)

・Presentation enhancements
(Enhanced presentation when completing poker hands, enhanced character movement during adventure segments, new presentation when special moves are fully charged, visual effect adjustments, and more)

※Enhanced presentation when completing poker hands will be implemented in the full game.

・Other changes
(Improvements to the overall pacing; redesigned random map branches and route layouts to make them easier to play; item descriptions added to the map; and more)

We have also made many other adjustments and bug fixes.

Of course, there are many additional improvements and smaller adjustments that we have not been able to list here.

The development team has carefully reviewed every piece of feedback we have received and is working to incorporate as much of it as possible.

We will also read all feedback and comments submitted regarding the full demo and consider what can be reflected in the full game.

CRYMELIGHT is still in development as we work toward completing the game.

That is precisely why your feedback is such a powerful force in helping us make this game even better.

To make the game easier to play.

And to deliver an even richer story.

The entire development team will continue carefully refining the game until the very end.

We hope you enjoy the full demo.

Thank you for your continued support of CRYMELIGHT.
