Last Civilization: Inherited Flame · published

In Last Civilization: Inherited Flame, protecting the last flame should be more than watching a resource counter. Who brought the fuel? Who repaired a breach? Who needed to rest before taking another watch?
Our latest work, on October 16–17, focuses on making those jobs function as intended and connect to residents' records.
These are development-build changes. They are not yet a public Steam update, and this article does not announce new content in the currently available demo.
We corrected a problem where nighttime fatigue could keep rising even while a resident slept or rested. Rest can now reduce fatigue when food needs are met; hunger still adds its own burden.
Exhausted residents on automatic night duty are held back from immediate reassignment until they have recovered enough. Automatic gate assignments also respect individually chosen nighttime roles, such as sleeping or resting. Explicit gate plans are retained rather than erased.
This gives resting and returning to duty a clearer purpose. It does not guarantee fewer injuries or an easy night.
When wood was waiting to regrow, gathered fuel could remain outside the village because hauling decisions only considered wood. We corrected that gap so available fuel can be prioritized during a shortage.
Residents still collect the load on site and return it to storage before it becomes available. We have not added free fuel or made the forests regrow faster.
We connected the flame keeper's existing refueling action to ongoing nighttime work. The keeper must reach the fire, use stored fuel and observe the existing limits and waiting time.
A successful refueling action also leaves a resident record. During an isolated play session, Toma's record described tending the flame at night. We want “the flame lasted until morning” to also mean “someone kept it alive.”
We corrected nighttime repair selection when only the outer fence or wall was damaged. If an artisan can carry out that repair, automatic gate deployment no longer takes them away from the task. Manual assignments, rest and protection decisions still take priority where applicable.
Successful nighttime outer-defense repairs now create a record for the worker. We confirmed Rio's repair entry through the resident screen during an isolated replay. Materials are still required; the repair is not free.
We adjusted the appearance of low flames without changing their actual fuel or strength. We also reduced repeated automatic slowdowns when normal refueling hovered around the low-fuel warning threshold. New shortages and extinguishing emergencies remain important warnings.
Night alerts now distinguish reduced health that calls for morning rest from more urgent injury situations.
The latest repair verification passed 145 Unity checks, including earlier recovery and supply checks. We also used isolated copies of saves for actual UI-driven play and read the resulting resident records. We did not modify players' real saves or publish a new build.
The long night around Day 20 is still under review. Breaches, material shortages and severe hearth damage remain in the latest test. We are not claiming that long-term balance, survival or the complete first-inheritance experience is now solved.
Next we will examine wood deliveries, repair budgets and the competing needs of the defenses and hearth. The goal is not simply to make danger disappear, but to let preparation and residents' work lead to understandable outcomes.
Tell us about a resident you wanted to protect, a confusing rest or supply decision, or a night that stayed with you. Your feedback helps decide what we investigate next.
