Long... time no see...!
I posted that I was reworking the tutorial and then went quiet for a while...
In the meantime, I've been quietly putting a bunch of things together...!
Yeah, I didn't notice it while making it, but watching other people play, I started to feel it too. The tutorial talks way too much.
So I fixed it.
Trimmed it down nice and snappy.
You won't even know it's a tutorial.
Yep.
The game used to need at least 3 players, and honestly, seeing "2 players online" had me crying buckets.
Now you can play solo.
"Isn't that just the multiplayer version cut down for one person?"
That's how it started, but the more I played it, the more I think it actually works.
I did my best to keep that brain-splitting feeling intact.
This one too... while working on it, it seemed doable, so I threw it in.
Because I think of this game as a party game.
A game that gives you something to enjoy when you get together with friends, whether it's 2, 3, or 4 of you. Any combination.
Back when I first became an adult, going to PC cafes with friends used to give me these reality-check moments, you know?
"Is this really the best we can do with our time?!"
But now, all these years later, I'm just grateful for any PC cafe that gives us even a little something to do together, something to bond over.
Anyway.
I hope Catverse can be that kind of thing too: something to play, something to bond over, something to trash-talk about. So I prepared a few more modes,
and the more I played... I think they turned out pretty good.
Yep,
Since we're bringing people together anyway, I figured why not cast a wider net, so I added it.
It collects play data from around the world and ranks everyone, too.
And when you're playing alone you don't think much of it, but the moment you see someone pulling ahead of you, something just snaps, you know?
Someone once said they climb the mountain because it's there. I bet whoever said that felt something similar.
And.
No matter how much I prepare, if it doesn't feel different at a glance... I figured it wouldn't bring in even one more player, so
I changed up the visuals a bit.
And while I was at it, I touched up the UI/UX too.
Anything that bugged me during development, I went in and poked at...
Seems pretty good lol
For anyone who might be on the fence, I've also opened up a demo.
So you can really sink your teeth into it, Ranked is open in the demo during this Autumn Sale, but only in Solo Run.
There are no restrictions, so... it'd be nice if even one person gave Ranked a shot.
Anyway, I've prepared a lot of stuff.
Saying "it's nothing special" might actually make me cry, but anyway, it's nothing special, but
I hope you have fun with it.
