Table Space is go for launch on Steam Frame!

Hi all, we're thrilled to announce that the very first release of Table Space for Steam Frame is now available. We are officially Steam Frame Verified and offering an early launch discount of 15% for players who are excited to enjoy tabletop games on day one with friends on Steam Frame.

We know the device is not quite out yet, but we wanted to make sure we have all of our ducks in a row when that fateful day arrives, and we're planning to continue refining the game and getting ready over the coming weeks!

What's in the Box?

This initial release includes some classics like Chess, Checkers, Solitaire, Texas Hold'em (& a Free-Play mode with a standard deck of cards), Tarot Cards, a cross-words game called Scramble Words, Trading Card Game support, and a few indie board games from some very cool board game creators that we've been lucky to get to collaborate with (Road Trip by Zerua Games, Pumpkin Rally by Yo Doggies, and Matcha VR by Yves Bouvier).

Note: These optional licensed games do cost a few dollars in addition to the base price of the game, which may be a bit frustrating to some, but please understand that this is so we can get money back to these indie board game creators so that they can keep doing their thing!

I Can Has Mods?

Table Space is designed to be heavily moddable by players. We made a web-based tool called the Boxtree Builder, which is completely optional to use, but it allows you to quickly create your own custom games, upload TCG deck lists, drag-and-drop assets, and even upload your own custom VRM avatars to serve as your likeness in multiplayer rooms. You can create your own custom public or private rooms to invite friends as well.

We plan to keep adding more capabilities to the Builder over the coming months, so you can better express anything you can dream up in the world of tabletop. We are also exploring a proper Steam Workshop integration to improve the discoverability of other player-created mods soon.

Acknowledgements

We know we are not the first tabletop games sandbox, and we have a very long way to go still before Table Space lives up to our dreams for it, but we think it has some unique things to offer for fellow tabletop enthusiasts who are excited about playing in VR, and we plan to be quick and responsive with continuous improvements and releases for updates based on your feedback.

We want to make Table Space the best it can be and showcase what's possible in this emerging medium. We care a lot about all the little things that enhance the sense of co-presence, make hand-based input feel as natural as possible, and unlocking your creative potential by giving you all of the tools you need to make your own embodied tabletop experiences.

We are very new to publishing a game on Steam, and we are just two people doing the best we can. We are sure we are going to make a lot of newbie mistakes along the way, so we appreciate you pointing out things we're missing, so we can make Table Space a place worth inhabiting together!

Thanks to everyone who supported us and helped us get to this point. We are full of appreciation to our early community of players who helped to shape the game and continue to give us tons of feedback and suggestions for what to add next.

This is day one for us, and we hope to still be around and kicking for Table Space's 30th anniversary on Steam in the year 2056.

Happy birthday Valve, with much admiration,

We feel very lucky to get to build a launch day experience for this exciting new device, and we can't wait for what comes next! We hope to see you all in Table Space very soon,

Ethan & Braulio from Team Boxtree
