Hey everyone!
After the launch updates and hotfixes, we took a short break while the dev team went on vacation.
We're back now - and development is moving again! 🚤
During the break, we continued reading your feedback, suggestions, Steam discussions and Discord messages. Based on what you've been asking for, we've decided what we want to focus on next.
Here's what's coming to Water You Doing?:
We're introducing a new system that will allow you to upgrade individual parts of your boat.
We're currently planning two different types of upgrades:
This will give you another way to progressively improve your boat and prepare it for the increasingly ridiculous situations you'll encounter along the way.
You'll also start finding floating casinos during your journey.
These locations will contain various mini-games where you'll be able to risk your money and win different rewards.
Among those rewards will be the new boat upgrade modules - including some of the most powerful upgrades available.
So yes, gambling may actually make your boat stronger.
Or leave you completely broke.
One of the most common pieces of feedback we've received is that some of the game's mechanics aren't explained clearly enough.
We're addressing that by creating a dedicated Tutorial Map.
It will introduce players to the most important mechanics and systems before they begin their main journey, making the beginning of the game much easier to understand without removing the discovery and chaos that comes later.
We're also expanding the world with animal NPCs.
You'll encounter both:
Our goal is to make the world feel more alive while also creating more unpredictable situations during exploration.
Once the features above are finished, we'll begin full production of the next map.
And thanks to the community vote on our Discord, we already know what direction we're taking.
The next map is planned to be a much more open-world experience, featuring both:
❄️ Snow-covered environments
and
🌋 Volcanic / lava environments
in the same larger world.
This was the direction chosen by you in our Discord vote, and we're really excited to start working on it once the current roadmap features are complete.
We're really happy to be back and working on Water You Doing? again.
Your feedback continues to directly influence what we're adding and changing, so please keep sending us your ideas, reports and suggestions through Steam and Discord.
Development is back in full swing - and there's a lot more coming. 🌊🚤
See you on the water!
