Hello everyone,
After many weeks without an update, I'm back with a hotfix that should resolve several bugs and clarity issues that could disrupt a playthrough.
Mamie Moelleuse is immortal! When she came for a consultation, a simple rejection caused the game to consider her dead. This was unintended and displayed a "<NULL>" text in the log. While it had no impact on the rest of the game, it needed to be fixed. (Thanks Sydheral)
Mamie Moelleuse can now be treated! Her again... An insurance number assignment error prevented access to her patient file on the computer. Combined with the bug mentioned above, it was quite a messy situation. It is finally fixed. (Thanks DovahKuine and ChatnelDevil)
The broken clock (even after René’s lightning-fast repair): On Day 28, René would come to clean the walls and fix the clock. Unfortunately, it remained frozen, forcing players to finish a day that could feel endless!
Hair-raising issues: Frantically pressing the button to remove hair could cause it to stay invisible, freeze on top of the patient, or conflict with certain patients' "hair regrowth" mechanic. (Thanks pg-correia)
René and his achievement! Unlocking the "Kill René" achievement wasn't working due to an error on my part in the trigger conditions. This is now fixed. (Thanks Mocano)
Unjustified fine for conflicting allergies: On Days 17, 18, 19, and 20, a rule stating that players must reject any patient whose allergy conflicted with a prescribed medication would systematically trigger a fine. I found the root cause of the issue, so it should no longer penalize you. (Thanks Raph')
18+? A disease named "xxxxx 18+" was appearing one day too early. It had no consequences, but it now appears at the intended time.
Cents, what for? On the end-of-day payslip, due to a variable calculation issue, some amounts could display unnecessary decimal numbers. They are now rounded to whole numbers.
10 minutes is short! Without spoiling anything, a certain 10-minute timer that could trigger a game over has been increased to 15 minutes to give players more time and ease the passage. (Thanks annyjessica12)
Troublesome windowed mode: On certain lower screen configurations, the windowed mode did not work as intended. From now on, even in 800x600, windowed mode will truly look like a small window. (Thanks ab727pdx)
Reporting bugs in the game reviews is over! This mechanic caused me a few unexpected headaches since launch... The bug report button pointed directly to the game's Steam store page instead of the discussion boards. This has now been fixed.
Resume with a label: The "Resume Game" function could be misleading. Because it displayed no information about the selected save, players with multiple playthroughs couldn't easily tell which one the game chose to highlight. From now on, text beneath the button will display your doctor's name and the last saved day. You will resume right from there.
A detailed fine at last! I know many of you have been asking for this, and it's finally here. When a prescription error occurs, the fine will now list the prescribed medications, their quantities, and their duration. This will help you quickly figure out whether the mistake came from a misclick, a misread dosage, or a bug (which, even if sometimes guilty, was definitely blamed a lot...).
That wraps up this update.
I hope it resolves most of the ongoing issues you've experienced in the game.
I'm aware that some of you might still face save file issues. I can't quite tell where it comes from, but you can always send me your saves (address and details available on the game's forum) so I can take a look.
In the last post, I mentioned a potential infinite mode, which a few players requested. While I understand why it would be interesting, implementing it might be too complex for me.
Just working on this update forced me to dive back into old code written months ago—a real spaghetti-code mess that required a lot of patience. I apologize, but I don't think I am able to offer this kind of content for the game anymore.
Furthermore, I recently started developing my second game. Its demo should be available during the cooking festival on October 12, 2026. It is a genuine pleasure to build something fresh and different—something that, unfortunately, is no longer the case for Prescribe and Pray, which I now consider finished.
Other projects are also in the works.
Thank you to all the players who keep Prescribe and Pray alive!
Have fun playing,
Anthony
