Hey Tourists!

The next update is coming soon. We spent the last month mostly under the hood, improving the game's performance, while working on the second map and polishing what's already available.

Optimization, Performance & Settings

Optimization was the main mission. We started by building an automated performance testing system, so we could actually measure where the game was struggling instead of guessing.
We also upgraded the game engine from Unreal Engine 5.7 to 5.8 as it was bringing many fixes and slight performance improvements by itself.
Then we went hunting.

The result: on one of our older test laptops running a GTX 1050 Ti, we more than doubled the framerate. Mid-range machines get a solid boost too. Together with a long round of debugging and crash fixes, this should make Rosalie more stable across the board.

On first launch, Rosalie now also runs a short benchmark on your machine and picks graphics settings that actually fit it. You can still change everything by hand, of course.

We also added a new option, mostly for Laptop players, to ensure the game runs on the correct GPU. Keep in mind, if you're running a laptop with integrated graphics only, you are still bellow minimum requirements for the game to run properly.

New Water, New interactions & More ambience

While working on the second map, we changed our water system to support a few things. and we went back and replaced every body of water on the first map with it. New underwater visuals and sound effects (although you still can't survive in water), better rivers, buyoancy for physics objects and ragdolls.

Also, watch where you're cycling! NPCs can now be run over and pushed around. Don't worry, nobody gets hurt. They just get very annoyed with you.

We also did a pass on ambient sound, adding new sounds to a few places that felt a bit too quiet.

All this is one step towards a more lively world.

Wish to help?

We've set up an Experimental Branch on Steam so you can try it before the main release and help us catch anything we missed.

  • Right-click Rosalie in your Steam Library and select Properties.

  • Go to the Game Version & Betas tab.

  • At the bottom, enter the private code: experimental

  • Check the code, then opt-in to the Experimental branch.

  • Let the game update, and voilà!

Thank you for all your support, and happy cycling!
