Gloomlings Playtest · published · build 25332294
Thank you to everyone who has been playing and reporting bugs. Several of the fixes below came straight from your reports!
NEW
- Three new fishing rods at Gumbo's, each making fights a little easier: the Willow Rod, the Blackthorn Rod, and the legendary Drowned King's Rod. Catch 250 fish to find out where that last one came from.
- Buying fishing gear now asks if you'd like to equip it, or swap it for what you're currently using.
- Click your rod or bait slot at the pier to swap between the gear you own without leaving the water. You can even go without bait if you're after junk.
- The pier now grows dark as night falls (placeholder until I make the art for it to be nicer), and shows the time of day.
- The world map and the town now show the time in a new format.
- Click the dark background behind the Player Card to close it (Specifically for my brother)
CHANGES
- Night now falls across the whole world together. Your room, the view through your windows, the map, the town and the pier all darken from 7pm and brighten again from 5am. Before it was all mis-matched.
- It's only too dark to fish once night has fully fallen at 9pm. Lanterns, coming soon, will let you fish later into the night.
- Scrolling with the mouse wheel is much faster in shops and menus.
- Floats, lanterns and charms show as "coming soon" at the pier.
- Tidied up the wording of a number of messages.
FIXES
- Fixed feeding sometimes doing nothing after erasing your save, until the game was restarted.
- Fixed the Feed button sometimes using different food to the one shown in your quickslot.
- Fixed returning to the menu while your critter was eating, which could break feeding and leave your next critter frozen in place.
- Fixed the calendar falling out of step with the day and day name shown in your room. Saves that were already out of step will repair themselves automatically.
- Erasing your save now properly resets the date back to Day 1.
- The calendar now updates if a day passes while it's open.
- The death screen now shows the correct date.
- Fixed long fishing fights, like the Tide Egg, suddenly vanishing partway through. Fights can now last much longer, and if the line ever does give out, you'll see a proper "line snapped" screen.
- Fixed the menu button sometimes opening when it should close (and the other way round) after visiting other screens.
