Patch 0.3.41 — Monsters Have To Swing At You Now

Monsters have to swing at you now

Bosses and elites have wound up their attacks for a long time — a moment where the blow is coming and you can still get out of it. Ordinary monsters never did. The swing animation and the damage left on the same frame, the instant you were in range, which is why it felt like they hurt you just by touching you. Blinking or dashing through a monster was a free hit on you. A monster spawning out of a cursed chest or dropping from a wall trap was a free hit on you. At depth, a free hit is a dead run.

Trash now swings on the same delayed path elites use: the animation plays, and when the blow actually lands it re-checks range, facing and line of sight. Step out of it, get behind it, or put a wall between you and it misses. There's no red circle under ordinary monsters — thirty of those in one room would be unreadable — the animation is the tell.

And nothing can hit you on the frame it spawns

Every monster now owes the world a beat before its first attack, so an ambush can't open with damage you never had a chance to see.

Melee abilities reach further than a melee swing. The last patch pushed melee reach out to 3.1–3.6m and left the ability radii at 3.0–3.5, which meant Sweeping Strike literally covered less ground than the warrior's own basic attack. Every melee ground ability now clears that class's own reach by at least a metre: Sweeping Strike 4.6m, Bulwark Slam 6.0m, Consecration 4.4m, Fan of Knives 4.1m, Death Mark 4.4m.

The ability bar shows the keys you actually bound. Rebind Ability 2 to Shift and the bar kept saying "2" forever — the key labels were hardcoded text that never knew your bindings existed. Same bug in the Inventory ability list. Both read from your real bindings now and repaint the moment you change one.

The War Spear has reach. Its description promised "long reach, sharp point" and the item carried no range stat whatsoever. It now grants +0.9m of melee reach on top of its +30% attack power.

The warrior stops holding bought weapons backwards. He was the only class whose hand carried its weapon at a different angle from everyone else's — tuned for the orc axe he ships with, but bought weapons inherit that same carry, so every sword, axe and spear you bought him was rotated about half a turn. The axe is untouched; everything you buy is now held the way the paladin and rogue hold theirs.

The gold shop has a Max button
x25 of a +25 Max HP elixir is 625 health a click, which stops being a purchase and starts being a chore once you're carrying billions. Max spends what the purchase is worth in one press — and it won't overspend, because it also stops at whatever the upgrade's cap can still absorb.

Every one of these came from a single player's bug report. Keep them coming — the report button is in the Journal.

Game update14 Sep 2026v0.3.40 — Patch NotesMelee: reach, hits, and safety Melee classes were losing fights they shouldn't lose. We fixed three things: Attack range increased across the board: Warrior 3.0 → 3.6, Paladin 2.8 → 3.4, Rogue 2.4 → 3.1. Rogue's old range was literally shorter than a Ravager's reach — you could stand still and still get outranged by the thing you were hitting. Fixed a hit-arc bug where standing point-blank on a…Game update12 Sep 2026Patch release 0.3.36The developer can now find a player who is reporting a bug, join their game, and message everyone at once. Quitting to the menu mid-run dropped your vendor damage and attack-speed buffs too. Both fixed — run buffs and bought health are saved with your character and restored when you return. Jo…
