Hey everyone! Update 1.4 is officially here, and it is by far the biggest, most ambitious update I've put together since launch. This patch brings three massive new headline features: full Steam Workshop & in-game modding support, The Feed (a fully reactive social media platform where your posting voice defines your presidency), and real Third-Party congressional caucuses that actually win seats and vote on your legislation. Alongside the new toys, this update is packed with huge under-the-hood stability improvements for the local AI, smarter GPU handling, big campaign balance reworks, and dozens of bug fixes directly requested by the community. Let's dive into what's new!
Mod support is finally here, and it’s built directly into the game rather than tacked on. You don't need any external coding tools, everything can be built, tested, and published right inside POTUS and shared straight to the Steam Workshop! Here is what you can create and share:
Custom Scenarios: Set up custom starting worlds, alternate history points of divergence, and unique presidential starting conditions.
Election Decks: Craft custom decision cards and historical campaign dilemmas for any election year.
Custom Name lists & Politicians: Add real or fictional figures complete with portraits, ready to populate generated offices throughout your run.
Territories & New Countries: A built-in world map editor with a custom territory-cutting tool to carve new nations, paint custom terrain, and even generate biomes directly from uploaded map images!
A quick note on mod safety: Mod content in POTUS is 100% data-driven, never executable code. Downloaded mods cannot run scripts on your PC—they only supply data (names, borders, dates, cards) that the game already understands. Subscribing to Workshop mods is completely safe!
Until now, the social media column on the side of the Oval Office was a one-way street: the entire country shouted at you for four years, and you couldn't say a single word back. Well, Mr. President... you finally have an account.
