Hail voidhunters!
*grabs a faintly flickering lantern and nudges you forward with his bony fingers*
Let’s have a short walk through the latest progress update!
As some of you know, Pool of Madness lets you upgrade your cue. You collect cue parts by pocketing a special equipment ball that sometimes appears in the rituals.
The idea came from ARPGs and shooters that make finding a new weapon feel exciting. We wanted cue parts to replicate that “ooh, what did I get?” moment you find new tasty loot in Diablo and let you build your own evolving “weapon” to use together with the Orbcaster (the gun you use to shoot and pull balls).
The cue is divided into three parts and you can switch each of them, combining different effects:
tip
shaft
wrap/handle
Here is the Equipment screen with the cue parts in action:
Recently we’ve had our first small beta test on discord focused on custom rituals - the game features procedurally-generated and custom ones - and boss fights. We’re really happy with the feedback and would like to thank all the beta testers:

We’re especially happy with the response to the boss fights, and will be polishing PoM based on all the thoughts you’ve shared! Currently we’re running a limited test of the second location and boss fight (also in our discord).
Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes updates about boss fights and other aspects of our haunted pool roguelite!
It’s hard to believe it’s been 5 years since we released our first original game as Bit Golem!
Hubert shared a nice write up about the process behind the game - give it a peek if you’d like to know more!
Till next time!
*Extinguishes his lantern. For a moment, you only hear the creak of the boat drifting away. Then that too fades, leaving you alone on the shore.*
