Hey everyone!
Version 1.7.0 gives Alterium Shift a fresh look - and a lot of attention to the little things that make an adventure feel better to play. There are redesigned menus, refreshed character art, fishing and racing refinements, faster startup, and fixes for saving, progression, controls, and more.
A big thank-you to everyone who has tried the preview build, reported bugs, and shared feedback. Whether you are returning to an existing journey or getting to know Atlas, Pyra, and Sage, here is what is changing in this Early Access update.
New Features & Enhancements
A refreshed interface
- Redesigned the title screen, main menu, inventory, equipment, quest journal, save/load screens, settings, and pause menu with a more consistent visual style.
- Added a custom pixel font and refreshed dialogue windows, notifications, book displays, and world-travel screens.
- Improved menu focus, cursor behavior, and scrolling when navigating with a keyboard or controller.
- Updated shop layouts and item comparisons to make buying, selling, and trading easier to follow.
- Added a V-sync option and a confirmation timer for display-setting changes, so an unconfirmed change can revert automatically.
Character art and presentation
- Updated character sprites and animations, including climbing animations, Pyra’s spear artwork, and Sage’s sitting and sleeping poses.
- Refined character portraits, sprite presentation, and follower positioning.
Fishing and racing
- Refreshed the fishing interface, fish silhouettes, and rod, bait, and lure artwork.
- Refined fishing settings and equipment data, alongside fixes to casting and fishing controls.
- Updated Racington’s interface and racing behavior, including improvements to out-of-bounds recovery.
- Added more opponent variety through a racing option that lets you select from eligible NPCs you have met on your journey.
Cooking, camps, and exploration
- Added a cauldron-style cooking interface with recipe, ingredient, and result displays. Once cooking is unlocked, browse your recipes in the Codex and prepare food at camp.
- Expanded camp conversations and refined the forest-camp sequence.
- Added and revised books around Summiton and Summiton School, with more Barrel King lore and interactions to discover elsewhere.
- Added collectible interactions for a side quest.
- Reworked desert heat: running builds heat, standing still cools you down, and walking keeps your current heat level. The heat meter is hidden while mounted; reaching maximum heat returns the character to town.
Startup and support
- Improved startup loading so the title presentation can appear sooner instead of waiting for all game data to finish loading.
- Added support-package export to the Support Center. Create a package containing full or recent saved-game data and diagnostics to share with the team when reporting a problem. Packages are saved locally—not automatically uploaded or sent.
Bug Fixes
Saving, loading, and equipment
- Fixed cases where manual saves or auto-saves failed to preserve progress, and a loading freeze after an early scene in Pyra’s story.
- Corrected save-list filtering and progress information across the character, All, Auto, and Manual tabs; fixed scrolling in the Load and Continue screens.
- Fixed the Cloud Saves toggle becoming stuck on and an issue with the save location used when Cloud Saves was enabled by default.
- Fixed the Skills menu breaking after loading a different character’s save.
- Fixed equipment becoming impossible to equip, and selling a duplicate weapon incorrectly unequipping or selling the equipped copy.
- Improved shop performance with large inventories and corrected inconsistent shop-button behavior.
Story progression and interactions
- Fixed several freezes and repeating scenes around “Rest is Best,” Dolion’s dojo interaction, and camp conversations.
- Fixed a dialogue loop that prevented Pyra’s stage performance from starting, and a freeze when choosing dialogue options at Gilberry Port Shores — West.
- Fixed freezes caused by pausing during dialogue choices or tests, using Atlas’s abilities during a Notimmus Forest cutscene, and returning from shops.
- Fixed reading certain Summiton books leaving the player unable to act, and a Lake Cabin table interaction that could freeze the game and hide the character.
- Fixed archery targets failing to advance events and map interactions failing to trigger or retain their state correctly after saving and loading.
- Fixed invisible collision remaining after a rock was broken, flower-collection points allowing repeated collection, and other flowers failing to respond to interaction.
- Fixed Pyra becoming stuck after using the Abandoned Mines trolley and incorrect movement when attempting to smash a rock she could not yet break.
Combat, abilities, and controls
- Fixed using certain items in battle making characters disappear and leaving combat unresponsive.
- Fixed pause-menu and ability-input conflicts that could leave controls unresponsive during or after battle.
- Fixed character abilities failing after battle, including Sage’s elemental effects, and corrected missing Atlas arrow animations.
- Corrected Atlas’s inverted aiming in the Summiton Forest waterfall area, an ability-related camera rotation in Shift Cave, and an input combination that caused Atlas to slide instead of walk.
- Fixed issues with key remapping, movement behavior, and the mount-action prompt in the pause menu.
- Corrected Sage’s AE cap increasing unexpectedly over time.
Menus, text, and information
- Fixed Settings failing to open, missing or overlapping character-selection information, and tutorial or map overlays remaining visible over menus.
- Fixed truncated quest descriptions, overflowing dialogue and support text, and missing or incorrect values in item notifications, character stats, XP displays, and Dolion’s test-results dialogue.
- Corrected missing Codex entry names, duplicate Bestiary entries, and the Green Snake description.
- Restored missing title-screen version information and the Entity’s image overlay, and corrected dialogue wording.
- Fixed changing Language or Cloud Saves unexpectedly changing the Auto-Run setting.
World, characters, and minigames
- Fixed freezes when opening the map and black screens when crossing areas while riding Shobii.
- Corrected characters clipping through stairs or appearing above the ground, along with a bench interaction and a chest that still appeared closed after being looted.
- Fixed followers disappearing after a Shobii ride, sliding in from off-screen, or becoming passable after training; corrected Pyra’s facing direction and Sage duplicating after picking up a chicken.
- Corrected a guard continuing to move after reaching his intended position.
- Fixed fishing controls staying active after leaving the fishing screen and Atlas’s overworld abilities remaining usable while fishing.
- Improved the match between manual casting input and the fishing action.
Visuals, audio, and startup
- Fixed intro-skipping problems and a prolonged black screen after character selection.
- Corrected flickering objects, a green line across the screen, brief garbled graphics when closing the map, and a visual issue around the Notimmus–Summiton shift area.
- Fixed startup music and arrow effects ignoring muted audio settings, and map music continuing incorrectly inside Gilberry Port houses.
Early Access Notes
- Version 1.7.0 is an Early Access update, not the full 2.0 release.
- Defeat returns you to your last save rather than routing you through the Echo Realm. Other Echo Realm rooms remain inaccessible in this version.
- The carnival-game tent in Pyra’s backstory is temporarily closed while its replacement minigames are being prepared.
