URS1 update — the living championship

This update is the largest since Early Access launch: 67 changes across the race, the career and the world, each one measured before it shipped. Your existing careers load and continue.

The race

  • Overtakes complete. An attacker who commits no longer gets pinned off-line for the whole move, and a pass only counts when the order really changes.
  • Defenders commit to the inside from the braking zone, and cars release out of corners on the dry line the way the circuit's geometry demands.
  • The tow and DRS reach their targets. Spins end at the pit entry instead of carrying into the lane.
  • A retiring car is visible to the whole field and is towed out along real roads, using recovery zones authored for every circuit.
  • Practice and qualifying traffic behaves: out-laps and cooldown laps yield, flying laps pass, and an impeded lap costs real time.
  • One pit-loss number drives both your pit wall and the AI, and the AI now changes its strategy when the race changes.
  • The runoff you see is the runoff the cars slide on.

Qualifying and the classification

  • A disqualified car leaves the classification. Everyone behind moves up and scores for their new place, a new winner takes the win, and the results table shows it.
  • Simulated and watched qualifying sessions are priced by the same code and have been measured against each other over eight seasons: neither misjudges a car.
  • The record book now derives from the race and qualifying archives and is checked against them.

Your career

  • A board that remembers. Two title seasons earn confidence that carries into the next brief; a contract buys one missed season; a new appointment starts from a clean slate; and no board asks for less than the finish it just watched.
  • Press conferences matter proportionately: a season of answers now weighs about as much as the season's verdict, not five times it.
  • Every driver move, including promoting an academy junior, is a real negotiation with demands, a counter and an acceptance threshold.
  • Injuries and bans are covered by contracted reserves; the Medical Centre shortens recovery and lowers risk.
  • The economy holds over eight seasons: rich teams reinvest, struggling teams enter administration instead of an interest spiral, sponsors survive a relaunch, and every euro reconciles through one ledger.
  • The Commission rotates its rule proposals between families instead of ratcheting one rule, issues versioned safety directives, and holds a commercial ballot.
  • Rival teams develop with evidence-driven plans, adapt their race strategy to their priorities, and run strategic supplier, staff and driver markets.
  • The Concept screen projects next year's car with the winter's own arithmetic; the History screen assembles circuit records, team trajectories, rule context and a milestone search.
  • Quitting and relaunching is byte-identical to playing on.

The world

  • Every venue passed a placement review; every weather and damage visual is checked against the simulation it depicts.
  • Race numbers on the cars, and damage that scuffs the part that was hit.
  • Cloud comes with the rain: the daytime lights read rainfall, not only standing water.
  • Two new cameras, rear and onboard, and venue dressing that scales with your quality setting.

Interface

  • One navigation grammar: the car and R&D screens are tab rows under their hubs, every hub screen carries a breadcrumb, and stacked text no longer overlaps.
  • Signal colours come from one palette.
  • Sprint weekends have been removed; the standard weekend is the single format.

Under the hood

  • 170 automated tests and eight-season career soaks with a live qualifying session every round run before every change lands.
  • Additive save data only: careers from the public build load, autosave and continue.

Known items we are still working on: principal reputation can pin at 100 over a long run of titles; a simulated grid is slightly steadier at the front than a watched one; some interface colours are still being brought onto the palette.

Game update13 Sep 2026URS1 Latest Patch - 0.8.1URS1 — every race is its own race now The biggest update since Early Access opened, and it starts with a confession. Until this build, the simulation ran every session off the same random stream — so qualifying handed you the same times session after session, and the same unlucky driver kept picking up the same damage race after race. That is fixed. Alongside it: a safety car that actually bunc…Game update9 Sep 2026URS1 0.5.1 updateA small update that answers the first review the game received. Two of its complaints were real bugs and both are fixed; the third was that the game does not explain itself, so now it does. Your existing careers load and continue.
