Monster Update - 100+ Readability, Feel, and Fairness Improvements

This is the big Nova Swarm readability and feel update. The goal was to make the game easier to read at full speed: clearer bullets, clearer enemies, clearer bosses, clearer rewards, clearer offscreen threats, and fairer play across normal, 4K, and ultrawide displays.

New Ultrawide Combat-Zone Architecture

  • Gameplay now runs inside a consistent 16:9 combat zone across standard, 4K, and ultrawide displays.
  • Fixed resolution-dependent gameplay bounds so boss movement, enemy formations, player movement, bullets, pickups, hazards, and cleanup logic line up consistently across display shapes.
  • Added decorative ultrawide side ambience: continued starfield motion, subtle nebula glow, and a faint combat-zone frame.
  • Wide screens now get more atmosphere around the action while the fight stays readable inside the active combat zone.

100+ Tracked Improvements since last patch

  • The ongoing improvement track has reached 100+ verified improvements across combat readability, HUD clarity, boss feedback, powerup communication, Pilot Orders, enemy art fidelity, offscreen awareness, and QA coverage.
  • The latest passes focus on the details that matter during real play: what is dangerous, what is valuable, where pressure is coming from, and what just happened.
  • Many of these are small by design, but together they make Nova Swarm feel sharper, more responsive, and easier to parse during heavy waves.

Combat Readability Sweep

  • Enemy projectiles now have stronger leading-edge glints, wake beads, arming pips, impact reads, and clearer travel direction.
  • Enemy shot origins, muzzle direction, spawn arrivals, hit confirmations, death confirmations, and durable armor states are easier to read.
  • Opening-wave enemies now get stronger real-hull detail so early fights show textured ship forms instead of flattening into simple silhouettes.
  • Final stragglers, urgent offscreen powerups, bonus drones, and boss support ships now get compact edge cues so the important target remains findable.
  • Near-miss feedback now shows source-side glints, clearer streak state, and better score-popup spacing so skilled grazes teach where the danger came from.

Boss Fight Clarity

  • Boss health bars now communicate phase pips, threshold ticks, low-health pressure, final slivers, and support-heal pulses more clearly.
  • Boss warnings now include better threat instrumentation and approach cues before the fight begins.
  • Boss support actions now read better through tether markers, edge markers, heal-beam delivery feedback, and healthbar recovery effects.
  • Boss, support, and elite visual effects have been tightened so major attacks and support roles stand out faster in the middle of chaos.

HUD and Progress Feedback

  • Mission Status now has a clearer segmented wave rail, hostile-pressure heat pips, and compact threat chevrons during bullet-heavy moments.
  • Combo feedback now has stronger urgency, multiplier pips, a high-momentum rail, and clearer collapse pressure.
  • High-score chase and near-rank progress now have stronger in-run progress cues, tick marks, sparks, and surpassed/near-target states.
  • Wave-clear moments now get a cleaner field sweep with clearance bands and chevrons so transitions feel more decisive.

Player Feedback and Powerups

  • The player ship now has clearer engine wake, Phase cooldown rings, invulnerability countdown ticks, damage direction cues, and Slow Time field feedback.
  • Powerups now communicate intent, category, pickup guidance, expiry urgency, spent state, active state, and pickup confirmation more clearly.
  • Magnet, pickup, shield, bomb, timed, and rare powerup states now carry stronger readable feedback while staying compact around the action.

Pilot Orders and Run Review

  • Pilot Orders now scale into a full 50-order track with clearer slot labels, progress rails, compact run-start/pause cues, and Hangar archive review.
  • Run Report, pause, Mayhem briefing, Hangar Career Intel, and in-run completion cues now present Pilot Orders progress more consistently.
  • The order track now better supports long-term starter mastery across bosses, sectors, enemies, powerups, Phase use, Mayhem starts, and rank progress.

Stronger QA Coverage

  • Added focused proof for resolution fairness, ultrawide side ambience, real enemy hull readability, projectile readability, boss health feedback, HUD pressure states, Pilot Orders, powerup guidance, and more.
  • Added screenshot and pixel-level proof for the ultrawide combat-zone presentation so the active playfield remains visible, centered, and readable.

Thanks for all the sharp feedback and patience while this update came together. Nova Swarm should now feel louder, clearer, fairer, and much easier to read when the screen gets wild.
