Hi everyone,

This update brings some major changes to weapon upgrades, weapon mods, skill choices, and several important bug fixes.

The main goal of this patch is to make builds easier to understand, give players more control during a run, and fix some rare but serious issues reported by the community.

Major Weapon Mod Rework

Weapon Mods are now displayed as skills in the upgrade panel.

This means you can now choose the mods you want during a run, instead of relying only on weapon level unlocks. Mods will also have a higher chance to appear depending on which weapons you use most to kill enemies.

For example, if you use ranged weapons more often, ranged mods will have a better chance to appear. If you use melee weapons more often, melee mods will be more likely to show up.

Mods are auto-equipped by default, so once you choose them, they will be applied automatically.

We have also added more melee and ranged mods. There are now over 50 weapon mods and skills in the game.

Some mods may still be too strong or too weak, so we are continuing to balance them. More adjustments will come in next week’s update.

Weapon Upgrade Changes

Weapons no longer have their own unlock levels during a run.

Weapon rune and mod slots are now open from the start. Higher rank weapons will have more slots and stronger random damage potential.

This should make weapon drops feel more exciting and easier to understand.

We also plan to add Runewords in the future, especially for Endless Mode and long-term weapon crafting.

Added Banish

Banish has been added to the skill upgrade panel.

Banish allows you to remove certain skills from appearing again during the current run. This is useful if there are skills you do not want, or if you want to focus your build more clearly.

You currently have 2 Banish uses per run. This may change in the future, and we may also add ways to gain more Banish uses through armour stats or skills.

Added Fate Shift

Fate Shift has been added to the skill upgrade panel.

Fate Shift gives you a chance to switch your Fate Deities during a run. Each run can currently have up to 3 Fate Deities, plus Iron Pact.

You currently have 2 Fate Shift uses per run. This may change in the future as we continue balancing the system.

Loot and Chest Updates

  • Weapon Mods have been added to the upgrade panel.

  • Mods now have a better chance to appear based on your weapon usage.

  • Ranged Mods can now appear from treasure chests.

  • Wooden crates can now drop a selection panel for gear, weapons, or mods.

  • Mods are auto-equipped by default.

UI Improvements

  • Selected UI buttons can now be triggered with the Space key.

  • The skill panel now includes Banish and Fate Shift.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where uninstalling multiple Mods in a row could cause only one Mod to appear in the inventory.

  • Adjusted the values of reload speed related Mods.

  • Fixed a rare bug where firing during the last 0.2 seconds of Reaper’s Reprise could cause the player to lose movement and shooting controls.

  • Increased the invincibility time during Reaper’s Reprise to help prevent players from being killed by ranged attacks or jump attacks while casting.

  • Fixed enemies flying into the air near the watchtower.

  • Fixed enemies climbing onto the archway structure near special slope terrain.

  • Fixed a bug where the player could become stuck in the ground after death while using a melee weapon, with the running animation continuing.

  • Fixed several safe spots on the swamp map boundary where the player could stand while enemies were unable to reach them.

  • Fixed some trucks in the swamp map where enemies could walk on top of them in an unnatural way.

  • Fixed an issue where teleporting on slopes could cause the player to fall underground.

  • Fixed an error when creating merchant data.

  • Fixed a warning error caused by volumetric fog not being destroyed correctly.

  • Removed test fog from the snow map.

  • Volumetric fog is now disabled by default.

  • Fixed an error caused by the inventory character trying to create weapons after the inventory was closed.

  • Fixed warning messages related to enemy AtkMultiplier and MoveMultiplier values.

  • Fixed animation warnings for the large worm enemy.

  • Fixed an issue where loading multiple non-preloaded effects at the same time could cause some effects to fail to unload properly.

  • Fixed several English and Chinese translation errors.

  • Fixed an abnormal vitality increase caused by armour.

Thank You

Thank you so much for all the feedback, bug reports, and support.

We are a very small indie team, so many things are much harder for us compared to bigger studios, but your reports help us find and fix issues much faster.

If you find a bug, have feedback, or want to suggest an idea, please post it in the Steam Community. That is the best place for us to track issues and improve the game.

If you are enjoying Dark Light: Survivor, leaving a review would help us a lot. Reviews help the game grow, reach more players, and allow us to keep improving the game and adding more cool content.

More updates are coming next week.

Thank you again, and have a great weekend!

Best,

Mirari
