Hello, everyone!
In a recent update, we introduced the Port System for the main menu, allowing players to create and use custom ports through mods.
We would also love to add more built-in ports to the game. However, creating these ports ourselves would inevitably take a significant amount of development time away from new features and mechanics.
That's why we're holding the NavalArt Community Port Mod Contest!
Ports created by modders will have a chance to be selected and officially added to NavalArt as part of the base game!
Event Period: From now until October 20, 2026, 02:00 UTC
Create your port scene as a Port mod using the latest version of the NavalArt Modding Tools.
Upload your mod to the NavalArt Steam Workshop with its visibility set to Public, so that players can download, experience, and vote on it.
Include "Contest Entry" or "参赛作品" in the title of your Workshop item so that the development team can identify and register it as an entry.
Wait for the contest to end. We will finalize the vote count when the submission period closes and announce the final results within 24 hours.
Copyright & Licensing
If an entry is selected as a winner, the author agrees to grant the NavalArt development team the right to use the submitted terrain scene commercially in NavalArt and other future games developed by our studio.
The author of a winning entry will retain the copyright to their original models and other original content. Neither the NavalArt development team nor the author may independently commercially distribute or publish the licensed terrain scene without permission from the other party.
Authors must own the copyright to all original content in their submissions and must have valid licenses for all third-party assets sufficient to cover their use in this contest and their subsequent commercial use in our games.
Terrain may be based on real-world locations or use an entirely original design. Copyrighted third-party assets may not be directly extracted, copied, traced, or otherwise reproduced without permission.
Before the contest deadline, the title of the Workshop item must contain "Contest Entry". Removing the contest label from the title, taking down the item, or changing its visibility so that it is no longer publicly accessible will be considered a voluntary withdrawal from the contest.
The total purchase cost of third-party paid assets should generally not exceed US$50. Authors must provide information regarding the source and licensing terms of these assets. If an asset's license does not meet the requirements necessary for the development team to use, modify, and distribute the work as part of a commercial game, the development team reserves the right to require that the asset be replaced, even if the entry has already been selected.
You may continue updating your entry until the contest deadline. The final review will be based on the latest version uploaded and publicly available at the time the contest closes.
Entries should run smoothly on the vast majority of consumer hardware and must not contain serious performance issues, missing assets, functional errors, or other problems that significantly interfere with normal use.
Workshop items must not contain personal attacks, discriminatory content, political insinuations, or other unrelated and potentially controversial content.
Community Vote: Among all eligible entries, the entry with the highest number of upvotes will be guaranteed a place in the game. Downvotes will not affect the result of the community vote.
Developer Selection: The development team may select an additional 1–3 ports to be added to the game based on our development needs. We will generally favor highly polished entries, but we may also select distinctive entries in order to provide greater stylistic variety. Community voting results will not be taken into consideration for the Developer Selection.
Submission times will not be normalized or otherwise adjusted. Submitting your entry earlier may give it greater exposure among players and therefore more opportunities to receive upvotes.
If an entry is selected, the author will be required to provide the source/project files for its textures and models so that the development team can make future modifications and maintain the content.
If an entry is selected, the author will also be required to provide a complete list of all third-party assets used in the work, so that we can verify that there are no copyright or licensing risks.
For selected entries, the development team will continue coordinating with the author after the contest has ended, and further modifications and improvements to the port will be permitted during this process.
We recommend not purchasing paid third-party assets during the contest itself. Instead, we suggest using the contest period for preliminary preparation, such as creating a list of potential assets you may want to use. If your entry is selected, paid third-party assets can then be introduced during the subsequent collaboration and polishing process between the author and the development team. This can help avoid unnecessary expenses.
Vote manipulation is prohibited. If we discover the use of automated tools, fake accounts, purchased votes, or any other method intended to artificially manipulate voting results, the development team reserves the right to invalidate the affected votes or disqualify the entry. Authors are welcome to showcase their work within the community and invite players to try it out and vote for it.
