Hello Mechanics,
August is already coming to an end after another stretch of hot summer weather. Development on our next title has continued in several areas throughout the month, with each part gradually moving on to its next stage.
We also have a number of other preparations underway behind the scenes, and we have a small piece of news to share with you in this development log.
Here is the August development update for our next title, [D1AL-ogue+].
New Social Media Feature: In addition to the existing News & Community features, we have added a new social media feature where you can discover different kinds of stories. You will be able to see what kinds of stories it contains in the game.
Orca Repair Animation: Orca's charming repair animation has been added.
Michelle Animation: We created an animation that will be used for new content being added to the next title. What could Michelle be making?
Puzzle Rework: As mentioned in our previous development log, we conducted various tests to take another look at what makes the puzzles fun. During this process, we found that some of the puzzle mechanics we had added were more complicated than necessary. This time, we reworked the puzzles around the following four points:
Are the puzzle mechanics easy to understand?
Do the puzzle mechanics connect well with the story?
Are they easy to learn while offering advantages to players who use them well?
Can the puzzles be cleared in a variety of ways?
Our goal is to make the puzzles accessible even to players who are not familiar with puzzle games, while allowing those who understand and make good use of each mechanic to clear them more efficiently. Rather than requiring a single fixed solution, we are also designing the puzzles so that players can approach them in their own way.
Performance Improvements: We reduced unnecessary processing and memory usage within the game and improved the efficiency of how the game handles rendering. These changes have improved overall performance and help the game run more smoothly.
Translation Preparation: Ahead of translation, we reviewed the story text for typos and other issues, and we are continuing to check any areas that still need attention.
New In-Game Content:
New content will be added to provide players with more choices as they progress through the main story.
Controller Support Review & QA:
We added controller support in a previous development log, but we found that some controls were not intuitive and that issues occurred in certain UI elements. We plan to review and fix these areas.
Quality-of-Life Improvements:
Based on feedback we received for the previous title, [D1AL-ogue], as well as inconveniences we have identified during development, we plan to make various quality-of-life improvements.
Art Production:
More than half of the character artwork, including repair animations and portraits, has now been completed. We will continue carefully working on the animations for the new characters who will play major roles in the story.
Main Story Development:
We will be working on the final part of the main story and completing the overall flow of the narrative.
Several Mechanics reached out to us through our team email to let us know that clicking the developer name on the store page did not lead to a dedicated developer page. Thanks to those of you who took the time to let us know, we have now created a new CherryPicker developer page!
Once the store page for our next title is available, you will also be able to find it directly from this page.
Thanks to a wonderful opportunity from Good Smile Company, we are happy to introduce new D1AL-ogue merchandise.
And the star this time is none other than Frey! You can now meet the charming Frey you know from the game in plush form!
