Hi everyone!
This update is the first in a series of Quality of Life updates that I'll be making to Wound Man over the coming weeks.
My main goal with these updates is to go back through the game level by level and improve some of the underlying mechanics, particularly the drag-and-drop system.
For this first round:
Improved the drag-and-drop mechanics for Levels 01, 02, 03, 09, 17, and 23.
Improved the Sudden Death mechanics for Levels 01 (Special), 09 (Special), 17 (Special), and 23 (Special).
Added a new info panel to all Sudden Death levels to better explain how the mechanic works.
Made some additional changes behind the scenes to reduce memory demands and hopefully decrease crashes.
Wound Man was the first game I made, and when I started developing it, I was also learning Unreal Engine as I went.
As a result, the way I built the early levels is very different from how I would build them today. Improving them isn't as simple as changing a few settings. In many cases, I have to refactor a significant portion of the level and its Blueprints.
Each level takes me roughly 3–4 hours to update, so doing the entire game at once would mean disappearing for a few months before releasing anything.
Instead, I've decided to tackle them in smaller groups and release the improvements as I complete them. This means you'll get regular updates, while I gradually work my way through the entire game.
This is only Part 1.
I'll continue working through the remaining levels, improving the drag-and-drop mechanics, refining some of the older systems, and looking for opportunities to improve performance and stability along the way.
Thanks, as always, for playing Wound Man and for all of the feedback!
