rogOut comes to Steam - the First Playtest

Hello Steam!

I'm Stasoun, and this is my passion project I have been designing for a long time – dark traditional roguelike with extraction looting mechanics and horror atmosphere, and most importantly, it is a cooperative game. Some of you already played the web version of the game a bit (actually its over 1200 expeditions already), and I got quite a few requests for the Steam version, so the game is finally here and is ready for the first playtest!

A few words before getting into the playtest details. Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone who provided feedback and shared ideas that helped me drive the game into its current shape. Secondly, please keep sharing your ideas, asking questions and suggesting balance improvements and features. I see it as the only way to build a game that is convenient, has deep gameplay and is fun to play.

Please keep in mind that it's very early alpha version of the game, multiplayer may have issues, not all gameplay mechanics are implemented, and graphics is far away from its final state.

Ask me anything on community Discord, or in Steam Discussions.

Playtest Period: October 1 – October 18

Play modes

Tutorial - learn the basics and input controls

Offline Play - just you and unforgiving world

Solo Online - you may occasionally encounter other players on expeditions

Pre-made Party - invite friends or team-up with strangers

*Local coop is still in development and is not included in this playtest

At times when online is low, please use #looking-for-group channel to find party members in community Discord.

Input Options

Should work on pretty much anything: Keyboard, Gamepad, Mouse, Touch-screen

*Gamepad has two control methods: "Standard" (classic movement with left stick + RT) and "Fluid" (immersive but a bit more complex). I'll appreciate if you could try both and tell me what you liked the most. You can change method in "Options -> Gamepad" menu.

How to Participate

  1. To participate in the Playtest push "Request Access" button

  2. You will get access during the next days with ability to invite up to 3 friends (and try coop!)

  3. Please don't skip the tutorial, I tried to keep it short with the most important information

  4. You can replay it at any time, useful if you changed input, e.g. from keyboard to gamepad

  5. Don't hesitate to ask me anything if something is confusing or not working using links below

How to invite friends

Steam "Join game" or "Invite to a game" menu options are not available yet.

Party management is done in-game using phone in the bunker (as shown in the gif above):

  1. In the bunker, interact with phone

  2. Easiest way to invite a Steam friend is to open "Phone book" – you will see your Steam friends that are currently in the game there.

  3. Your friend needs to be in their bunker, otherwise they won't hear the phone ringing and won't be able to answer

  4. After your friend answers the call, interact with phone again and use "Invite to Group" option

  5. When your friend accepts the invite, you will become a party leader

  6. Repeat to invite more friends (currently up to 4 players in a group)

Other players you randomly meet on expeditions will appear in your phone book after you get back to the bunker.

You can also call any other player that is currently online, by dialing number directly (they must tell you their in-game phone number).

Give me your feedback!

If you encounter bugs, have any questions or feedback, please share it here:

  • rogOut community Discord: https://discord.gg/SbJvBJMeAC

  • Steam Discussions thread: Playtest Feedback Thread – 2026 Oct

Later I'll add a Report Bug button into the game for easier feedback loop.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for playtesting rogOut!

See you in the dark, survivor.
