Butchery Department Update

Hello everyone,

The Butchery Department Update is here!

This is one of the biggest and most complex department updates I have added to Megastore Simulator so far. Butchery introduces new product types, new preparation mechanics, dedicated storage, a new employee type, and a completely new workflow built around preparing meat products before selling them.

Butchery is also available as a starter department, and it is currently one of the departments with the highest profit potential.

A small platform update: the Xbox page for Megastore Simulator has been approved and is now live! You can now wishlist the game on Xbox as well. The Xbox version is part of the upcoming release plan, and I will share more details as development progresses.

New Department: Butchery

The Butchery Department introduces a new way of managing products. Instead of simply buying items and placing them on shelves, many butcher products need to be prepared first.

There are three main types of butcher products:

Whole Meat / Cuttable Products

These are large bulk meat products that you purchase first, then prepare on the Cutting Table.

They are turned into sellable prepared products such as steaks and sliced meats.

Ground Beef Products

These products are prepared using the Meat Grinder.

You purchase the required butcher product, process it through the grinder, and turn it into prepared ground meat products that can be sold.

Ready-Packaged Products

These products are already packaged when purchased.

They do not need to be cut or processed and can be stocked directly when needed.

New Preparation Mechanic: Cutting Table

The Cutting Table is used to prepare whole meat products.

Large meat products are placed on the table and cut into sellable butcher products. These prepared products can then be placed on Butcher Stands for customers to buy.

This mechanic is one of the core parts of the Butchery Department and gives the department a more hands-on preparation flow compared to standard departments.

New Preparation Mechanic: Meat Grinder

The Meat Grinder is used to prepare ground beef products.

Some butcher products need to be processed through the grinder before they become sellable. Once prepared, they can be placed on Butcher Stands like other customer-purchasable butcher products.

The Meat Grinder has its own sounds, timing, and preparation flow to make the process feel more distinct.

New Butchery Storage: Butchery Refrigerator

The update also adds dedicated storage furniture for the Butchery Department and a specialized butchery tray system.

The Butchery Refrigerator can store all butcher-related products, including:

  • Whole meats

  • Ground beef products

  • Ready-packaged butcher products

  • Prepared butcher products

The main purpose of Butchery Refrigerators is to store the products you buy directly from the market, such as whole meats and grinder products.

Restockers bring these products from the warehouse and fill the Butchery Refrigerators. Then, when a Butchery Stand needs products, Butchers take the required meat from the refrigerator, prepare it if needed, and place the final sellable product on the stand.

You can also store prepared products in Butchery Refrigerators, but this is mostly useful if you want to keep extra prepared stock ready, but butchers will not be filling those trays for now.

New Employee Type: Butcher

The Butcher employee has been added to the game with a specialized red uniform.

Butchers are responsible for preparing butcher products and restocking Butcher Stands when needed. They use the products stored inside Butchery Refrigerators, prepare them through the correct workstation, and place the final sellable products on the stands.

The intended workflow is:

Purchased products → Butchery Refrigerator → Butcher preparation → Butcher Stands

For example:

  • Restockers bring whole meat products to Butchery Refrigerators.

  • Butchers take those products when needed.

  • If the product requires cutting, they use the Cutting Table.

  • If the product requires grinding, they use the Meat Grinder.

  • Once the product is prepared, they restock the Butcher Stand.

Ready-packaged products do not need preparation and get restocked by butchers. Butchers also require the cutting table and meat grinder to be fully empty with an empty tray on them for simplicity. They always leave these empty to keep them usable, so they instantly finish their jobs if you quit mid-work or end the day.

Increased Employee Capacity

To support the new Butcher employee type and larger store setups, the employee capacity has been increased from 45 to 55.

Lower store levels will also gain employee capacity faster, making it easier to expand your staff as your store grows.

New Content

This update currently includes:

  • A full new Butchery Department

  • Butchery as a starter department

  • New Butcher employee type

  • 20 product licenses

  • 6 new furniture types

  • Whole meat / cuttable products

  • Ground beef products

  • Ready-packaged butcher products

  • Prepared sellable butcher products

  • Dedicated Butchery Refrigerator storage

  • Cutting Table preparation mechanic

  • Meat Grinder preparation mechanic

  • 4 New butchery-themed wall and 1 floor options

Product Pricing

Since bulk meats are not directly sold to customers, the price screen focuses on customer-purchasable products.

This means the Price Management and Product Statistics windows show prepared or ready-packaged butcher products, not bulk meats. Whole meats and prepared products are separate product types, but their prices are connected. The cost and market price you see for a whole meat product are based on the total value of the prepared products it can produce.

Bugfix

Fixed a persistent issue where Restockers could sometimes leave empty boxes on the ground if the day ended mid-work or quit. This issue was harder to track down than expected, but the underlying cause has now been addressed.

What’s Coming Shortly After

The Butchery Update is a large system update, and more improvements will follow shortly after release.

Additional warehouse expansions are already being worked on and will be released shortly after enough testing and planning to bring them under 24 hours.

These expansions should help support larger stores and the extra storage demand created by the Butchery Department. There will be small patches coming shortly after the release based on your feedbacks

Thank you for playing Megastore Simulator and helping shape the game with your feedback.

The Butchery Department is a major step toward making Megastore Simulator feel bigger, deeper, and more flexible, and I am excited to hear what you think.I also want to thank everyone who has supported Megastore Simulator throughout Early Access and continues to support the game.

My goal is to bring Megastore Simulator to full release with all the promised features added. Some of these systems are more difficult to build than expected, but no matter how challenging they are, I will keep working on them and improving the game.

Thank you for your support, your patience, and for helping shape the future of Megastore Simulator.
